"Galette from the Norman word gale meaning flat cake is a term used in French cuisine to designate various types of flat round or freeform crusty cakes"
These are so simple to make!
Peel and slice 3 large apples and sprinkle with 1/4 C sugar and 1T cinnamon:
I use a pre-made pie crust, laying the crust on a Silpat and spread the apples in the center:
I drizzle the apples with Vanilla Butter (1/4 c butter, melted and 1/2 t vanilla mixed in):
Fold and pleat the crust up around the apples...
...and brush the crust with remaining vanilla butter and sprinkle with sugar:
Place the Silpat onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350' for 20-30 minutes
Let cool for 10 minutes...
...and serve...
...and top with whipped cream:
This serves 4...
...and it just as good as an apple pie!!

This looks so good and easy. I really need to make one of these. I think it's something Mr. Picky P would actually eat.
ReplyDeleteI love how easy this apple galette is to bake and perfect for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea, Patti! Mr and I are the only ones in our family that enjoy pie (crazy, right?) But that means we have to eat the whole thing ourselves...tough job, I know...but calories! I think you've just given me a great treat without oppressive leftovers!
ReplyDeleteI love to make galettes, so easy and such a pretty presentation!
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious and easy. I have to bake this Patti.
