Girl's Trip to NYC....

"The Big Apple"...."The city that doesn't sleep"..."These streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you"..."the City of Dreams"....New York is always a good idea"....

I just returned from a fabulous "Girl's Trip" to NYC.  We flew into JFK at sunrise....

...and after checking into the hotel....

...we were treated to champagne and caviar at the Plaza.

The five of us enjoyed lots of champagne and cocktails ....

...and excellent dining.

We had a "deli lunch party" at MacKenzie-Childs in Soho, chatted with Greg and Kevin, and I purchased a sweet treasure from behind me in the photo below!  As always, our visit was lots of fun!

We enjoyed art galleries:

We saw "Beautiful" and "Moulin Rouge" and it is tough to say which was my favorite !
 I LOVE musicals!!

The Pedi-cab ride from 42nd St to 60th ST was terrifying and hilarious at the same time....especially when the police came up behind us with a "woop, woop".....I haven't laughed that loud in a long time!!

We went to Hudson Yards and the Vessel....

....Ground Zero, St Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Tiffany, Canal St and we shopped a few boutiques in SoHo....

...and the last day we cruised the Hudson on a lunch cruise...

It certainly is the "city that doesn't sleep"!

I’m at the corner of 1st and 1st… How can the same street intersect with itself? It must be at the nexus of the universe.Cosmo Kramer, Seinfield

A store after my own "color".....

Last week, while in NYC, I came across a unique store:

10 Corso Como

In 1991, 10 Corso Como opened in Milan, Italy, named after its street address.  The striking interiors of the pioneering “concept store” and its signature black and white circular logo were designed by artist and New York native Kris Ruhs, who would go on to design the interiors at all subsequent branches.

10 Corso Como just opened its first US location, at the South Street Seaport District in New York City, this past September.

The store features a curated mix of fashion, art, design, and books, as well as a cafe and restaurant.

To read more about this unique store, visit their website: 10 Corso Como

The "black and white" is what drew me into this store, of course!

A store after my own "color"!!

And lastly, the rest of the fun in NYC...

A long weekend in NYC would not be complete without stroll through Rockefeller Center...

...and the ice skating rink is ready:

Henri Bendel is always a favorite place to shop....

...and have a glass of champagne:

Another favorite place is the Baccarat Lounge for a quiet drink...

...and a light dinner:

And I love how the Empire State Building hovers over Herald Square - this is the best place to sit and "people watch":

I also found a sweet little garden on 34th down by the River in Hell's Kitchen:

Here's Alice's story:

A sweet, quiet corner in a hectic and noisy city!

The last 4 posts sum up my long weekend in NYC - Still not enough time to see all of the things on my "to do" list - so I will have to return soon!

The Highline and Chelsea Market, NYC

The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail. It was created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City.

The views are amazing, looking out into the river, of new construction....

...and intriguing art sculptures along the path:

The Highline brought us to Chelsea Market, a food hall, shopping mall, office building and television production facility located in the Chelsea neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan:

Inside is a cacophony of scents, colors, people and action!

The Fat Witch Bakery and Sarah Beths are definitely worth a visit!

If you are planning on eating lunch or dinner, you may have a difficult time choosing where to stop:

The market was loaded with decorations, some hanging from the ceiling, many spooky displays and lots of intricately carved pumpkins:

Spice shops always draw me in and I brought home some Italian seasonings:

Two places I will definitely visit again!

Stop by tomorrow to read more about my weekend in NYC!

The Lotte NY Palace and St Patrick's Cathedral, NYC....

Sarah from Hyacinths for the Soul and I checked into the Lotte NY Palace in NYC on a Thursday as we prepared to meet a few of the Tales of the Traveling Tote bloggers.  The Lotte is located on Madison Ave and is a lovely hotel, once owned by Leona Helmsley and the Sultan of Brunei.

Our room was on the 12th floor and we overlooked the rear of St Patrick's Cathedral:

What was once The Villard Mansion’s carriage entrance on Madison Avenue is now Lotte New York Palace’s Courtyard, with tables and chairs and at night the trees were lit with spotlights.  We were lucky that each evening the temperatures stayed warm and we could sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine!

Looking up to the 12th floor from the courtyard:

The coffee cart was delivered in style one morning, with shiny silver and a little yellow rose:

Pumpkins were scattered throughout the courtyard raised gardens:

Across the street was St Patrick's Cathedral.  I visited the church during 5:00 Friday Mass.  The cornerstone of St. Patrick’s Cathedral was laid in 1858 and her doors swept open in 1879.  This church is in the heart of the city and the recent restoration is almost complete:

I can't wait to return!

Come back tomorrow to read about the Highline and Chelsea Market!
