Black and white checked face masks....

I am sharing 2 ideas to create your own face masks.  

Many ideas and a variety of directions can now be found online, so be creative and make yourself a cute mask!

This is what I did:

I scanned a sheet of MacKenzie-Childs gift wrap paper and printed it onto computer printer fabric. (you can purchase it HERE) and used a 'painters mask' as a base:

I sprayed temporary adhesive onto the mask to hold the fabric in place so I could trim it and pin it:

I used a simple basting stitch to secure the fabric onto the mask...

...and stitched around the mask:

I am not sure if this meets safety standards, but it sure is cute!!

 

And here I am, at my "quarantined-best",  desperate for a hair cut, no make-up, but ready to fight off germs!

Or you can use a bandana....

....and rubber bands....

...for a mask to cover more of your face:

But, I really don't see myself going very many places and have stayed home for the past 3 weeks, except for a few outdoor walking adventures! 

 Whatever you do, stay safe, be cautious and keep your hands clean!!

Ten on the 10th...Scarf Storage....

I have too many scarves, however in Central NY during the cold months I wear one every day!  I thought this storage hack was worth sharing again

#1.  I tried the scarf  "clothes hangers" with huge holes, and that didn't work.  As I tugged one out of the large hole, the others would follow and I would end up with a few on the floor.

#2.  I tried folding them neatly on my closet shelf and they would end up with creases (and I always wanted the one on the bottom of the pile - see result #1)

#3. I tried "s" hooks (see result #1)

#4 I tried to stop buying scarves - that was a joke!

SO....

I found a store that was throwing out "sock hangers"  ....

...and I bought an expandable curtain rod.  I hung it up at the end of my closet 

I can see them all and they are easy to grab!

This didn't even cost me $10 to organize!!

I am a gal who loves her bags.....

.... I keep many in a huge rubbermaid bin in my closet...and some hanging in a closet on "S" hooks....

...I am not partial to a specific brand, color or style....

...as long as all my "stuff" fits inside and I can fling it over my shoulder!

This striped tote was my fav this summer:

...and this has been my fav summer back-up for a few years:

I even keep all of the dust covers and bags and use them when I store the "off season" bags!

I rarely use the same handbag for more than a week at a time, and often change to match my outfit.

Fashion Faux Pas.....

A fashion faux pas is one of the biggest sartorial sins one can make when getting dressed. Whether it's wearing something wrinkled that should have be ironed or allowing your underwear to show through your outfit, a fashion faux pas can ruin an otherwise on-point outfit.

Here are a few helpful hints:

 Clothes that don’t fit are a definite no no. 

Camel toe? No thanks!

There’s nothing worse than seeing a woman hobble around in too-tall heels.

Socks with sandals - NEVER!

Visible gaping between the buttons of your blouse - peek-a-boo!!

Having bra straps peep out the side of your tops and dresses - it's an undergarment, ladies!!

Turtlenecks - do you like the "illusion" of your boobs hanging down around your waist? - - -  and never, ever wear a flesh colored one!!

Don't over accessorize - unless you want people to notice the bling, instead of you!

Don't dress like a teenager when you haven’t been one for decades!!

Ten on the 10th ~ Fashion/Accessories Storage

It's time for Ten on the Tenth....

Fashion is the focus this month and this was an easy challenge for me!

I am sharing how I store all of my accessories....and yes, I probably have way too many "accoutrements", but they make wearing jeans and t-shirts look a bit more fashionable!

When I retired a few years ago, I eliminated a lot of jewelry, but needed a place to hang my favorite necklaces.  

On the corner wall, between the closet door and the door to our bedroom I hung 4 wooden racks that I bought at the Regional Market for $2 each....

....so for $8, I have the perfect spot to "hide" all my necklaces.  I try to keep similar colors together, but it doesn't always look this neat!

I also love wearing scarves and am not a fan of folding anything!  

I bought a curtain rod at Ikea and scrounged up "sock" hangers from Old Navy.....

...they were being thrown away and they are perfect for hanging scarves.  The curtain rod cost under $5 and is just sitting across the back wall, hanging on the clothes racks on each side of the closet.

All of my earring are stored in ice cube trays which I purchased at the dollar store - I also try to keep matching colors close to each other.

And when I travel I store my earrings in this large pill container, $1 from the Dollar Store!

My bracelets are stored in cardboard boxes and tins in a plastic drawer - freebies!!

My watches are in dollar store plastic bins (2/$1)

I bought this tie rack at the Thrift Store for $2.  It holds the bracelets I wear most often and hangs in the closet:

Some of my rings sit on the bureau on a ceramic hand I also picked up at the thrift shop for $1:

My MacKenzie-Childs bags should really be hanging on this peg rack, however my husband had a better idea - you can read about it HERE.  This rack cost under $10 for him to build!

Organization is the key to efficiency - all of my accessories are easy to find!

NOW, if I could only apply this concept to the rest of my life!
