Easter "Deviled Egg" Cakes

This sweet treat was a trial and error experiment and they came out cute, but also they were a "one and done":

I mixed up a boxed cake mix....


...and baked them in an "egg" silicone pan:




Once cooled I scooped out a shallow hole with a cookie scoop:





I filled the hole with lemon frosting, to resemble a deviled egg mixture:


And then sprinkled red sugar crystals to resemble paprika:


These little "fool the eye" cupcakes didn't quite turn out as I imagined, but they were delish!
