Satin and Velvet Pumpkins

These pumpkins are quite simple to make and are perfect to add to your fall decor.
Cut circles out of velvet fabric.  Use dinner plates, bowls, etc for patterns and trace them on the wrong side of the fabric with a sharpie marker (do not let marker touch your plate/bowl)

Sew a "running stitch" around the outside edge and pull lightly.  Fill with rice and continue to pull your threads and tie a knot:

Stitch hole closed as tightly as you can so that rice cannot slip out:

I have saved pumpkin stems throughout the years for this project:

Using a hot glue gun, glue the stem to cover the gathered stitching:

You could also use sticks if you don't have any stems, or buy faux pumpkin stems on amazon!

And then I made some out of satin:

They look perfect mixed together, the textures blend well:

Last winter I joined a Fiber Club.  Most of the members are knitting, crocheting or cross stitching.  I usually hand sew and making pumpkins has been my latest project.   It's a diverse group of people of all ages who are very interesting.  It is held at a brewery once a week and we always have a relaxing and rewarding time!

Fall will be here before we know it!
