Lunch at the new Louise Cafe at the Everson Museum

The Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY just opened up the Louise Cafe in honor of Dallas based potter and Everson Museum Trustee Louise Rosenfield.    About half of over 3,000 pieces of pottery, from her personal collection, is available for serving cuisine in the cafe.

Each piece of pottery is tagged with an NFC tag and can be scanned with your iphone to learn more about the artist and the piece of pottery.

Art and delicious lunch cuisine is seamlessly blended in the cafe as you dine on pieces of pottery and are seated at unique modern tables, with the opportunity for individual or communal seating.

I ordered the Chicken Salad Tea Cup Sandwich with a side pasta salad and my girlfriend ordered the Cheez IT salad.  When I scanned the NFC tag on each of my dishes it was interesting to "meet" the artists that created each piece:

The Menu was designed by the Dremer Restaurant Group, known in Syracuse for a few other culinary ventures (LaLaLu, Lobster Babe and Rise N Shine), and the presentation of our meals was unique and eye catching on these special pieces of pottery!

Later that day we were surprised to see our photo on the Museum's website:

The cafe is small and intimate, a perfect spot to sit and enjoy art and cuisine!

Louise is open:

Wednesday11:00am – 4:00pm
Thursday: 11:00am – 4:00pm
Friday: 11:00am – 4:00pm
Saturday: 11:00am – 4:00pm
Sunday: 11:00am – 4:00pm

The stairwell is one of the most unique designs in the museum.  The building, which opened in 1968, was designed by I.M. Pei, who also designed the iconic glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris.

Here are a few prior posts from the yearly holiday event held at the museum - I have participated in this event for over 30 years:
