Making Chalk Paint - Do It Over Designers

    Do it Over Designers

I am joining Ann, from Apple Street Cottage, for Do It Over Designers, where we transform something that needs a makeover!

I decided to make some chalk paint for this table using this recipe:

I mixed the paint in a plastic bowl and I gave the table and drawer a good coating :

I used the chalk paint as a primer and continued to paint the base of the table black.  I also drew gridlines on the top so I could paint in checks, and then drew lines on the draw so I could paint stripes:

Here is the finished top:

I also added some gold trim along the edges and painted the knob a shiny gold:

I listed the table on FB Marketplace and it sold in 24 hours!

  1. I'm not surprised it sold so quickly, it's gorgeous. I've seen some Mackenzie-Childs pieces that are similar in style and they are super pricey. Someone got a lovely piece and deal!! Love that gold trim...

  5. Great job Patti! You really changed the entire look of the table. The down shot shows the dimensional look you painted onto the top, and the others are right about the gold paint finishing it off.
