Tales of the Traveling Tote #24

MAY

Covid, Covid, Go Away!

We made a quick trip to Rochester in May to see our daughter's new home and I went into the city of Syracuse once.
Google keeps track of my where-abouts:

JUNE

"LET ME OUT OF THE HOUSE"

We visited our youngest daughter's new home again.  I packed for the Father's Day "pool" party, but never ended up in the pool because I spent the day playing with my newest grandson! We are happy they are living back in NY!

*************************

Oneida Lake is a few miles down the street.
I never got in the water here either, but the breeze was cooling enough.  We have had quite a few hot days!

The end of June we traveled thru Pennsylvania on our way to Ohio.  We had a picnic lunch overlooking the vineyards and Lake Erie:
(how could I refuse this tube of potato chips with this silly guy dressed in checks)

The last Sunday in June was spent on Indian Lake on Callan and Carter's new boat!

We enjoyed the sights, tubing, swimming, lunching, eating ice cream and sunburning!!  There were very few boats on the lake and the water was warm for 'floating'!

This map shows my June travels:

JULY

We left Ohio in July, and here is my July travel:

Heritage Winery is located in North East, Pennsylvania.  It's a 3rd generation family owned winery in a 200+ year old barn, offering a wide selection of reds, whites and slushies!  We often stop on our way home from Ohio to pick up a few bottles of John's favorite reds.  We were the only ones there and felt very safe!  The view from their porch is of Lake Erie in the distance:

July 7th our TTT group had our 3rd Zoom call - it's always fun to catch up with everyone, but we missed a few:

Mid July I was off to Cape Cod for a girl's getaway.  My car was packed with face masks, disposable gloves, lysol, antiseptic wipes, hand sanitizer and spray and so on....

DW Field Park, Avon, MA:                                            Sagamore Bridge, Cape Cod Canal:

                                                              Town Neck Beach, Sandwich, MA:

The night before the "canceled MacKenzie-Childs Barn Sale", Tracey hosted a Zoom call with a group of die hard collectors and our "go-to-guy for info".  We reminisced, shared, enjoyed a contest and had lots of laughs!  We all look forward to Barn Sale 2021!

Each morning, while on my vacation, I walked down the 165 cliff steps to the beach:

We spent one afternoon at the Cape Cod Lavender Farm:

It was a much needed getaway with my BFF from college!

*********

My mom has been in assisted living and hasn't really been out since March, so we had an escape to Aurora and Skaneateles and one day.  We browsed through the MacKenzie-Childs store, had a  picnic lunch overlooking Cayuga Lake and Mom enjoyed the ride through the back roads.  We found a huge sunflower field where the sea of flowers never ended!

MacKenzie-Childs had a virtual on-line Barn Sale at the end of the month and it was fun hopping online each morning to see what new items were added to the sale.  I was lucky to grab a few treasures, the Cheese Course being one of them:

AUGUST

The beginning of August brought the Traveling Tote group together for another Zoom call.  We all shared  what we bought at the on-line Barn Sale, talked about our lack of traveling and caught up with each other!

At the end of the month Sara, Carter and Callan came to visit and we took them to the Sunflower Maze at Strawberry Farms in Skaneateles:

We married 40 years ago....

...and our girls and their families visited us and made our day so special.  They prepared appetizers, dinner, and we had a delicious cake for dessert:

We ended the summer with a pool party at our daughter's new home:

It's been a great summer, in spite of Covid-19!

**************

I will confess that one of my vices is watching the Housewives shows on Bravo....I am addicted, not to one, but rather all of them.  My daughter made this adorable cup for me and I love how it combined two of my favorite things!!

  1. hi Patti, for someone who says she didn't travel much, you certainly got around!! So many fun small trips to wonderful places, you kept your totes plenty busy enjoying a variety of summer adventures! I love the cheese course you were able to grab at the barn sale, you will enjoy that so much with your creative cocktails. Take care, you're in my thoughts today 💕

  3. Patti, I'd say you and your tote had a full summer! How fortunate to have your girls and their families to share fun famiy times together, and their celebration for your anniversary was stellar. Kudos to your creative daughters!
I'm glad you got to take your annual visit to Cape Cod. Wish I could have done the same, though my friend on the Cape has a house full with her NYC children who have left the city and moved back home.
Loved seeing all the summer get aways. Enjoy that beautiful cheese tray. I've had one for years and find that I use it for more than just cheese! The virtual sale was fun and for me, brought back fond memories of my trip to the Barn Sale inn 2018. Thanks again for sharing that first for me!

  5. WOW, Patti, you certainly managed to have a wonderful summer full of travel while you were being safe. I know you are happy you got to do your summer visit to the Cape but most of all you got to spend time with your family and the grands. You aren't likely to forget this anniversary, the year of Covid and a missed celebration. Knowing you, I'm sure you will make up for the lost trip. Stay well and Happy September.......

  6. Patti, you have certainly been out and about. The summer visit to the cape must have been so fun. Visiting the lavender farm and also seeing the fabulous sunflowers with your mom. How special to get your mom out. I bet she enjoyed the Mackenzie Child’s visit. Seeing family and friends is always special. Let’s hope we can someday soon put this Covid thing to rest. Happy September.

  7. Lol, Patti, I had to look twice that first word meme.....so totally what this has been all about. However, I must say, you really made quality choices in the trips you were able to take. I'm so happy for you that your daughter and her family are back in NY, and that you could still get to Cape Cod. Your anniversary celebration was truly the best. Your girls are as fun as you are. Happy September.

  10. Patti! Did you go to Town Neck Beach during Shark Week? Scary!!!! I love seeing you out with your mom. I also LOVE how you haven't let a stupid pandemic stop you! Your map is great. Your travel cup is hilarious. Your daughter has the best sense of humor. I bet y'all have so much fun when you're together! And I do love your cheese course. I almost have buyer's remorse....love it in the Courtly Check! I also love all the Courtly Check in your post.
We had planned a trip to Aurora for the sale this year. I was bringing my daughter and SIL, but maybe we can go next year. I'm scared to purchase online from MacKenzie-Childs right now, and I am dying because of the new Courtly Check pieces in my inbox this morning!

    xo,
    Ricki Jill

  13. Everything about this is just so delightful, Patti. I'm glad you got out. We miss really being able to interact with our Toddlers, even if we can see them. I am SO glad you were able to spend time with your mom. And 40 years -- I love it! Much happiness and many more.

  14. Loads of fun trips, specially the ones where you saw the grandkids and your Mom. Happy 40th wedding anniversary, we celebrate our 40th in November.

  15. Wow how exciting to visit a lavender farm, I would have been overjoyed.

Bravo, no not that Bravo, on climbing those steps every morning. Happy you were able to visit your mom.

We miss our family and friends terribly. We haven't seen them since the pandemic began. My husband may or may not be able to go back to his office in NYC until January.

NJ and NY have been jut extremely hard.

  17. You had such a marvelous family and friends summer. The ocean beach, those steps, the sunflowers and the lavender farm, your beautiful grand babes, your anniversary, and most of all your priceless time with your mama. I know she must have grabbed on to every moment with you and just being outside for the day. I hope you can frame that darling pic of her on the Courtly Check patio. I enjoyed traveling with you!
