This folding chair was purchased in 1935 by my grandmother, for my Mom, who was 2 years old. The chair cost $.75
Callan, my 2 y/o grandson, is the 4th generation to sit in the chair!
Hopefully the chair will last through more generations - it's only 85 years old!
Hard to believe it was .75 back then, and what a treasure it has become!
ReplyDeletePatti, this is so special. Family pieces are truly treasures! And to think this was your mom's at 2 years old. She must smile with delight at seeing two year old Callen enjoying her chair.
ReplyDeleteWow! How wonderful to have such a special heirloom.
ReplyDeleteOMG Callan is such a little cutie! I can tell he is always busy! Love this post, and I think it's so sweet to pass down such a treasured heirloom. It fits him perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI don't know which I love most -- the lovely chair or that darling boy sitting in it! (I think the darling boy!)
ReplyDeleteI love that chair (and that boy's personality that is SO evident!). My sister had one of those folding chairs in our antique booth space last year. I love the wood patina. Yours is in excellent original condition and having its provenance makes it that much more special!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! My granddaughter has a rocking chair that was mine as a child and I love that my daughter has refused to repaint it, she wants it in the original condition! Many memories these old chairs have!!
