Tales of the Traveling Tote #32

The Tales of the Traveling Tote is where a group of bloggers publish linked posts quarterly, sharing where the adventures of their retired MacKenzie-Childs Large Tote has taken them!

Read on to see where mine took me this summer!

Here is a recap of my summer vacations and shenanigans:

Random statues in Boston in June:

I spent a week galavanting on Cape Cod.

These hand painted Adirondack chairs are all around Sandwich, MA:

Sandwich Chamber of Commerce, Fisherman's View,  Daniel Webster Inn, The Weather Store, The Sagamore Inn

and below

Heart of Stone, Sandwich Arts Alliance,  Kiya Marie, Jack Conway Real Estate, Lo Adoro Market

Greek Cafeina Cafe,  Cafe Chew,  Great Lengths Hair Salon,  Diesel and Lulu's,             Sandwich Antiques,  and Cape Cod 5 are below:

All of the chairs have been painted by local artists and will be auctioned off in September, with all proceeds going to the Sandwich Arts Alliance.

Falmouth Heights Beach with Martha's Vineyard in the background is always a great place to visit.  We had a delicious lunch across the street overlooking the beach. This treasured tote was made especially for me by MacKenzie-Childs a few years ago:

Woods Hole is to the right:

This is always a "must stop" in Centerville:

The MacKenzie-Childs Warehouse Sale was held mid June and I ran into two Traveling Tote friends, Blogger Debbie and Instagrammer Crystal:

Lunch was fabulous at the Aurora Inn with the best MacFriendzies:

The Polish Fest is always a fun event in Syracuse - it was a chilly day in June, but the golabkis were hot and tasty!

Shortly after we headed to Delaware, Ohio for a week:

We enjoyed time on Alum Creek Lake.....

.....boating, tubing, knee boarding, rope swinging, floating and skimming rocks.  We also spent Carter's 13th birthday at Top Golf, proof positive it is not my sport!  Callan had fun in the pool and on the playground.  We ate at Amato's behind the statue of President Harding, played lots of Phase10 games and had a wonderful week!

On July 4th the two of us enjoyed the day at Meier's Creek in Cazenovia:

Many summer afternoons were spent on Oneida Lake.
Oneida Lake is the largest lake entirely within New York state, it is 20 miles long with a surface area of 79.8 square miles. The lake is located northeast of Syracuse and near the Great Lakes.  It's right down the road from where we live!  It's perfect for picnicing, kayaking, paddle-boating, swimming and boating!

The east end of the Lake has lovely sunsets.  Dinner at the Lakehouse offers this fabulous view nightly!

A summer day spent in Aurora is a day well spent:

Another day was well spent in the Finger Lakes:

BERMUDA

Finally!!  After trying to go there for our 40th wedding anniversary, and then our 41st, we were finally able to go for our 42nd!  We stayed at Grotto Bay, where we spent our honeymoon!  We enjoyed the all inclusive resort, our room was overlooking the bay, and close to the pool and beach.

One of the highlights was swimming in the cave - we had it all to ourselves!  Stalactites dripped on us and the water was refreshingly cold!

We hiked to the Blue Hole:
We had lots of cocktails:
The flowers were lovely, the lizards were scurrying around and tree frogs chirped all night!
The food was delish!
The bay was perfect for kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and soaking up the sun!
We took lots of selfies and enjoyed every single moment!
Even the Traveling Tote enjoyed a few moments in the sun:

It was a perfect summer -sunny days, hot nights, lots of activities, precious family time and wonderful memories created in a few months!

  3. You and John had a busy summer. Happy for you two that you finally got to return to Bermuda. Happy Anniversary! My good friend lives in Centerville, so I've been to the famous Country Store many times. The chairs in Sandwich remind me of the ones we saw in Skaneateles summer of 2018. Happy September!

  7. I knew your summer was super active with travel. The question was just how you would summarize it all in one post! Fabulous summer for you, Patti (& John). Your totes are well-traveled, and there's one I didn't quite recognize (with the flap snap on the front pocket). Fun!

  10. I think you celebrated your 42nd all summer long! What a fabulous time. My summer didn't get started until mid July, but just happy I didn't miss the whole thing. Lake Oneida looks so beautiful I love the picture of it peeking through the purple flowers. How fun to have lunch together with the MacFriendzies! Now I have to put Bermuda on my list. That cave looks amazing.

  12. You've had such a wonderful summer! I remember Falmouth and the ferry that delivered some friends and me to Nantucket Island for the summer of '66. I would love to go back and spend a month of Nantucket one summer. Maybe it will happen. CherryKay

The chairs are fantastic: I think you should bid on one or two. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite, though!
Happy Anniversary! Your trip photos are amazing....and that grotto is something else! What a cool experience.
Thanks for being our fearless leader!
