SAUSAGE BALLS
This recipe was given to me in 1981 from a neighbor who spent a lot of time in her kitchen. She made them every Christmas and so do I!
These are a delicious hors d'oeuvre and they can be cooked, frozen and then taken from the freezer and heated in the microwave!
Sausage Balls
3 c Bisquick
10-12 oz Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1 lb hot sausage
1/3 cup oil
Mix it all well with hands! Shape into 1 " balls and bake on parchment for 16-18 min @ 350°. Makes 8-10 dozen, depending on size. These freeze well!
I made those with plain sausage, but the HOT sausage has so much more flavor and is my favorite.
These make a perfect appetizer for Happy Hour!
These sound fabulous, Patti. They may well show up this holiday!
ReplyDeleteI just bought the ingredients for these yesterday! I make 3 batches at a time so I always just find something good to watch on tv while I smash the ingredients together! Been a favorite of ours since we married 45 yrs ago. In fact all 3 of my sons wanted to include in their marriage vows that their wives would promise to make them every Xmas!!!

ReplyDeleteThey look easy and I like easy. They also look delicious. I am definitely making these. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTrip was asking about these just last week because one of our neighbors always baked these and shared, and she moved! I need to bake a large batch for Christmas and freeze them to have on hand. Pinned it!
ReplyDeleteI haven’t made these in a long time, Patti! Thank you for the inspiration.
