The Red Lion Inn in the Berkshires ....and Dorinda Medley's home

We decided to take a little detour on our way to Cape Cod in western Massachusetts.

First we stopped in West Stockbridge for lunch and shopped in the cute little antique shops.  Outside one of the shops was this adorable "straw lady" riding her bike....

....this rapid stream ran through town:

We stayed at the historic, 250 y/o, Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, MA, which is in the Berkshire Mountains.

We sat on the porch for hours chatting with couples from Atlanta and California...

...enjoying a few cocktails!

Our room was on the top floor, the double windows under the tree limb:

When was the last time you were given a REAL room key?

We had a delicious dinner in the dining room:

John had Halibut and I had Turkey - YUM!

A little trivia:

Dorinda Medley, from the Housewives of NYC,  worked at the Red Lion Inn during her teen years and owns a lovely home in Great Barrington, the next town over - take a tour of her home here  and here)

I am a friendly stalker (see this post), but this was a tough challenge to find Dorinda's Blue Stone Manor:

One of her favorite quotes:

BUT she wasn't home!

CLIP, CLIP!

Now, off to the Cape....

  2. I visited the cape once in the fall…stayed in Chatham but went to every town and lighthouse in all the cape!!! WHAT a treat for this southern gal…and oh so different from my usual surroundings. And leaf change???? Omg….never had I ever seen such beauty. Or have I seen that since that trip!!!

  5. The Red Lion is such a delightful spot. I'd love to stay there sometime but meanwhile wandering through, dining, is a treat in itself!
