The Tales of the Traveling Tote is a series of adventures that share where our Mackenzie Childs tote bags have taken us. Four times a year a group of bloggers each write a connected post about the places we have been. We have built incredible friendships through our blogs and we hope you enjoy our tales as much as we do!

August 2019
August was a fun month for me. I spent a week on Cape Cod and in Plymouth, MA
My 2 college friends and I had lunch at the East Bay Grille, overlooking Plymouth Harbor:
This "lobsta" was outside 1629 Winery in Plymouth:

We enjoyed lunch at Baxter's, overlooking Lewis Bay :
and the Lewis Bay Lighthouse in Hyannis....and "Miss Kenzie" was spying on Squaw Island in Hyannisport - you can see it in the distance:
One night we went to a fun dance party on Craigville Beach:
Miss Kenzie needed a rest at the Chamber Welcome Center, where my BFF is the Director! There is a directory so you can visit all of the hand painted Adirondack chairs, which will soon be auctioned off as a fundraiser:
Later in the week Miss Kenzie spied another chair at the bank:
We enjoyed the Housewives show with Margaret Joseph, Sonja Morgan and Teresa Guidice at Barnstable Performing Arts Center:
We had lots of fun at a "Bloody Mary and Bocce" Brunch in Sandwich:
We walked the path to the Cape Cod Canal and Scusset Beach at sunset:
I met Elin Hinderbrand in Hyannis and she signed my Summer of '69 book....This was my favorite of all of her books!
We swam in the pool - no sharks in there!!
We spent our last night at the Wequassett Inn on Pleasant Bay in Harwich:
We dined on a delicious food buffet on the patio:
After a wonderful week, it was time to return to NY and say goodbye to the sea and the prettiest flowers....
The next week John and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary in the Thousand Island Region, US and Canada (You can read about it here)

What a terrific time in Cape Cod! You & D look fabulous in that end of week photo (after all those outings, too!). Love the bag that coordinates with the lobsta in Plymouth, and the BM bocce morning? I'd be all in for that! Those painted chairs and the idea of auctioning them off is a great one for fundraising. You truly are the Traveling Diva of us all! Great trips and tales, and I love reading all of them!
ReplyDeletePatti you have been non stop all summer! Love that lobsta and those painted adirondack chairs for the fundraiser! The fun times with your friends, walking the beach, eating seafood, and a special time with your husband celebrating your anniversary, meeting Elin H...you and your totes have been having a fabulous summer! {summer of 69 is next on my list to read!}
ReplyDeleteJenna
Patti- What a wonderful post. I love that you and your friends and the traveling tote were able to spend time together. How special is that!!! Have a great Sunday- xo Diana
ReplyDeletePatti, you are always on the go! Love seeing all the special places on Cape Cod, and love the idea of the auction for the painted chairs. I was in NYC the summer they had the Cow Parade. What fun to see all the creative ideas. I have a photo journal my SIL made for me of the various painted cows. Great idea for a fundraiser.
ReplyDeleteHappy September and onward into Autumn!
PS
Fun to see the other travelers that sent in photos of their bags. Great idea!!!
Hi Miss Patti, I am so very excited to be a new Mackenzie childs collector (under 6 months). I have found such a wonderful group of people to share this passion with. They are so helpful and kind. I look forward to getting my own tote so that as I travel ( in and out of the U.S) I can share Mackenzie-Childs with others.
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you and your friends and your tote spent a week in Cap Cod! So fun too that you and your husband celebrated your 39th wedding anniversary. It sounds like you had a great month of August!
ReplyDeletePatti, this trip looks like a dream! Lucky you, lucky friends! You guys had so much fun and the water looks fabulous. So does the food, especially the seafood. I just adore the Bocce ball party picture. That is one that should be framed. So fun to see where all of the other friends of MC have been off too - pretty exotic!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 39 years - we were 40 this year! We are in good company!
