The Tales of the Traveling Tote #18

The Tales of the Traveling Tote is a series of adventures that share where our Mackenzie Childs tote bags have taken us.  Four times a year a group of bloggers each write a connected post about the places we have been. We have built incredible friendships through our blogs and we hope you enjoy our tales as much as we do!

The last three months have flown by quickly - it seems like the older I get, the faster the days pass!

December 2018

The first Saturday in December was spent visiting the Sonnenberg Mansion.  Carolers, dancers, Christmas music, S'mores by an open fire - a fun event to get us in the holiday mood!  Miss Taylor came along for the fun:

The second weekend in December my husband planned a getaway weekend for my birthday...

...So, I pulled out my passport, and packed a weekender bag and filled Miss Kenzie, my tote....

...and we traveled over the Rainbow Bridge to Canada...

...to Niagara Falls ....

...and look who also has a bag like mine:

The Falls were not frozen yet, but it sure was a cold weekend.  We spent a day in Niagara on the Lake, lunching at the oldest golf club in No America, had dinner up in the Skylon in the revolving dining room, watched fireworks over the American Falls, watched the Canadian Falls turn rainbow colors and had some luck at the Casino!  It was a fun birthday!

February 2019

We spent a week in Grand Cayman....

... and stayed at Morritts on the East End of the island...

...and again, I found another guy with a matching tote and sunglasses....

...the port in Georgetown has the prettiest color water...

...and luckily there were only 2 ships in port the day we spent shopping....

....and lunching!!

Grand Cayman is definitely for snorkelers and scuba divers...

...as there is a reef circling around most of the island.

We toured most of the island...

...and stopped at many beaches...

...Rum Point being one of our favorites...

...very quiet, lots of shady areas, lots of chaise lounges...

...and great food and beachy cocktails...

...and just a short drive away was Starfish Point, the water was so clear as this starfish was under a foot of water:

We found this rock on our early morning walk on Valentines Day....

....on this pretty beach...

...but my favorite spot was the infinity pool at the resort!

Chickens, roosters and cats run wild on the island - and I can say that I do not miss the crowing...

....but I do miss the sun and the fresh air...

...I am yearning for summer!

  1. Is it wrong to be envious of Miss Kenzie and Miss Taylor? They are having more fun than I am...LOL What great trips, I'm so glad you had a wonderful time! Love and hugs!

  2. The Sonnenberg Mansion was a great place to begin your Christmas merry making. Music and dancers, sounds so festive. Wow, nice birthday planning. I love Niagara Falls and would love to see it during winter months. We were there late spring. Grand Cayman was a 180 for you, bet all that sun felt great after coming from the cold. I love how you kept running into all those totes :) Such pretty colors there. I'm sure Miss Taylor and Kenzie enjoyed their trips. Fun travels Patti...........

  3. The time does fly as we get older and you've had a busy winter season. Looks like a fun birthday trip and the perfect tropical get-away. The heart rock on Valentine's Day...how perfect! A perfect souvenir too (in lieu of lava)! Keep on traveling Patti, and sharing your travels!

  4. Oh the pictures of Niagara Falls are amazing and I can only imagine how awesome the fireworks display was from that restaurant! What a fabulous birthday! And the Caymans, I know you had a ball there, such a treat after your snowy winter! There is nothing like a warm sunny day to make your spirits happy! I don't think I'd like crowing roosters walking around though!! Loved your photos with the giant characters holding your tote! Thanks for being our fearless leader Patti!

  5. What great trips you had, Patti, to both Niagara and Gr Cayman. Love that little personalized tag you have for your tote, and all your other accessories. Here's hoping that beach trip will sustain you till the snow melts for good.

  8. Patti, what a fabulous time you have had. Niagara Fall and the Grand Cayman. So glad you got to get away for some sunshine. Love the heart shaped stone. I know you have been bombarded with snow. Tropical vacations are always a blast. Hopefully onward toward Spring.

  9. Patti, your travels took you from one extreme to the another. Niagara Falls is a beautiful sight, but not sure I could handle the severe cold. I'm more the sand and sun kind of traveler. Seriously the Grand Cayman looks gorgeous. I've not traveled there, but would love a little sunshine. We've not had your freezing temps and all the snow, but it is grey, wet, and cold here most days. I'd like a sunny beach view!

  10. Wow from freezing to tropical - you know me I prefer the tropical. As long as I can get away once or twice I can survive the snow. We have only been to the Cymans in a cruise and I am sure I would love it a lot more at a resort. Your legs are leaving looking really good and really happy relaxing at the pool. (I agree the crowing of roosters can be so annoying. We had those in French Polynesia- they never quit.). Looks like hubby knows how to treat you for your birthday and Valentines.

  11. Love hearing about your travels. Sadly, I have not been to Niagara Falls or Grand Caymans so it was good to hear a little about both.
    That starfish picture is amazing.
Glad you had a great birthday!

  12. I would love to hop on a jet and fly somewhere with white sand and enjoy an umbrella drink! That starfish picture is amazing! We have the roosters in Key West when we visit, and they woke us up one morning. What fun adventures you've had to Niagara Falls and Grand Cayman. So nice to get away for some sunshine, and hopefully Spring weather will be here soon. I am even excited about changing the clocks next weekend. LOL
