Black and White Checked Butter Dish

I bought this cute little silver plate butter dish at the flea market recently and I just knew that it would be adorable in Mackenzie-Childs style checks!

Zucchini Cups

I added about 1 cup of tomato sauce, a few fresh herbs and cooked the sauce down a bit to thicken it:
I took 2 zucchini and cut each into thirds, tossing away the ends.  I used a "baby spoon" to hollow out all but 12" inch form the bottom of each "cup"
I added about 1/2 cup cheese and then I spooned the thickened meat mixture into the cups:
I baked these for about 30 minutes at 350'
 Mmmmm - were they tasty!

Has anyone ever done this?

So, I did, what I think any other blogger would do, dropped the M&M bag, rifled through my purse for my camera, opened the car windows, and took a photo to the left and another to the right.

BUT what really annoyed me is the impatient guy behind me who kept honking his horn - apparently the light had turned from red to green and back to red!

I was tempted to get out of the car and take a photo of his scowling stare, but the light turned to green again and I wanted some more M&Ms and I had another call coming in!

Saturday in NYC

I went shopping in NYC again on Saturday.  Again, I went to Canal St and then shopped on 5th Avenue for a while.  On a mission to discover some unique stores, I stumbled upon the original SoupMan and decided to have lunch - butternut squash soup - mmmgood!  And Al wasn't there, so I was not intimidated while ordering, unlike Jerry Seinfeld!
I strolled through the garment district.  After shopping a few sample sales, I went into MOOD:
It is so overwhelming - aisles and aisles of bolts of fabric....
...a collection of textures and colors:
 .....trims, ribbons, tassels, galore....
 ...and more fabric!
I then ventured to the flea market in Hell's Kitchen...
...a menagerie of people selling their new and old wares...
and then back to Herald Square to wait for the bus!

Making Apple Cider!

They have a "hand crank" cider press and we all took turns tossing in the apples and cranking the wheel:
The aroma was wonderful and there is nothing like a glass of fresh cider!
 We made about 5 gallons!
And BJ was the best helper!

Autumn in my home..

A few photos of Autumn in my home:

My 30 year old scarecrow on the mantle, with a 45 year old lantern:

and joining them is a fall tree I found at Pier 1 Imports a few years back:

It's been cold in Central NY

We had a frost on Friday night - It. Is. Cold. Here!  Late Saturday afternoon we bundled up with scarves and gloves and went to an autumn bonfire at our friend's house.  They have acres and acres of land.  All of the teenagers took hayrides through the woods:

They climbed the tree stump, which has "stairs" cut into the wood:

We all cooked our own hotdogs on the open fire:

And of course there were marshmallows....

...for s'mores:

And the bonfire kept us nice and warm:

Sparklers and fireworks entertained us:

And we kept adding wood to the fire....

I am not looking forward to winter at all, but this was a fun way to spend a COLD evening!
