Casino Wharf, Cape Cod

Look at this enticing presentation of a Chicken Waldorf Salad Roll-Up from the Casino Wharf in Falmouth on Cape Cod:
It's enough to make me drive 5 1/2 hours to have another one!

And these views from Squaw Island in Hyannis Port are enough to make me move back there:

Right now it is snowing in Syracuse - Friday morning, 7:30am - What is it with this crazy weather? I remember when "Spring used to be Spring"!

Pizza and Beer by the TV

The coffee table is set for "Pizza and Beer" with MacKenzie-Childs paperware:
There is a connection between the plates and the beer glasses:
Years ago I was in the Canary Islands, which are owned by Spain and are off the NW coast of Africa:
And these glasses came home with me:

And what goes better with pizza than cerveza??
(but it does taste better in the Canary Islands!)

Chocolate and Peanut Butter...

.....two flavors that go together so well! To make these, simply shove gently push a thin popsicle stick 2/3 into an Oreo. Dip the cookie into Peanut Butter flavored chocolate and add some decorative sprinkles!

Could it get any easier?

Happy Hour Snack

The weather is starting to feel like spring and here's a quick appetizer to have out on the patio before dinner:
I took small cubes of Tomato/Basil Cheese and a grape tomato and skewered them on toothpick. A drizzle of balsamic dressing gives it a "kick" - and a glass of wine makes them taste even better!

Just a Spoonful of Sugar....

I am not much of a baker but this new cake pop maker I received at christmas is fabulous:
It makes perfect cake balls in 6 minutes:
To make a quick and easy dessert, I inserted plastic spoons into each chocolate cake ball:
I dipped them into peanut butter flavored chocolate:
The final step was to add a few sprinkles:
And I had a "spoonful of sugar"... easy-peasy!

Cape Cod Lavender Farm

Last week I went to the Lavender Farm in Harwich, Mass.
A long, winding, dirt road took us to this quaint little cottage in the woods, surrounded by fields of lavender:
The rustic setting was so quaint and relaxing.
And even though the lavender is not quite ready to bloom, the soaps, lotions, sachets and other gifts in the shop released the soothing scent in the cottage.
There were varieties of lavender plants for sale and the weather was perfect for strolling around the farm.
If you go to Cape Cod, this is a quaint and enchanting place to visit!

Curtains to Slipcover!

Last summer I bought this fabric at the summer Stickley sale for only $5.00. I made curtains, but they didn't really match my bedroom well:
I took each curtain panel and decided to turn them into slipcovers for my extra kitchen chairs. I "measured and cut and stitched" and" remeasured and recut and restitched":
And then I decided a cute little skirt was needed:
Here's the finished slipcover - a clever way to "upcycle" curtains!

Easter Breakfast

There will only be two of us for Easter Breakfast this year
And we will have dinner at my sister-in-law's with the rest of the family.
I have set the table with yellow Russell Wright dishes and MacKenzie-Childs berry bowls.
The centerpiece is my Easter Tree. I grew up with the tradition of making an Easter Tree every year (now, I just pull it out of the storage bin)
Some of the ornaments are over 25 years old.
And, like Christmas ornaments, each one reminds me of years gone by.
The decorations coordinate well with the pastel dishes
This is a Pfaltzgraff platter that also coordinates well with the M-C bowls
So, the table is set for fruit salad, fried eggs, homefries and banana muffins.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!
