Roasted Asparagus

I love roasted asparagus, especially when it is roasted with garlic and olive oil:
mmm...gooood!

This is the only room in my home that I never really decorated. We call it "Caitlin's room", even though she doesn't live here (I am in "empty nest denial"). There was never a reason to spend a lot of time and energy here because we rarely use the room. It was colorless - tan and white with a bed and a black leather couch - and it needed COLOR!
TJMaxx has a sale section where I bought these red crinkled sheers for only $7.00 pr. And at the Christmas Tree Shop I bought this print for $10.00:
The comforter set was purchased at Big Lots for only $25.00 and the red pillows were from the Tree for only $1.79:
So, for a small investment, I have my favorite color combo and a bright cheery room for Caitlin!
Even though she doesn't live here :-(

It all began with 50 cents....

I was walking through Home Goods the other day and I spied some black and white. This was wrapped in a baggie with "tablecloth" written by hand on a scrap of paper and a $.50 red sale price sticker. I snatched it up and held it for dear life, not caring what size it was.
When I got it home and opened it up, I started laughing because it is a Cynthia Rowley Shower Curtain!! But for just today, it will be a tablecloth:
This setting displays my handpainted chargers, and red heart votive dishes from the Christmas Tree Shop (after Christmas sale for $.50 ea). The heart dishes were purchased about 25 years ago from TJMaxx and the dinner plates are from the Dollar Tree.
And some Pepper and Poppies:
This butter dish was also handpainted:

One of my blogging buddies, Artie, from Color Outside the Lines, has nominated me for the Stylish Blogger Award. By accepting this award, I agree to share 7 things about me that you might not know. I will also nominate 10 who I think deserve this award.ME
So, here are my 7 fascinating, riveting and intriguing facts about me:

1. I love to go to the movies. I MUST have popcorn and Necco Wafers. This is how I often spend my Saturday nights.
2. I once went to a party and an iridologist told me that in my prior life I had a twin sister who was a prostitute....go figure, my sister had all the fun (I don't have a sister).

3. When I was younger, I wanted to marry Johnny Crawford, from the Rifleman TV show ("Paw, Paw"), then when I was a teenager I wanted to marry Rod Stewart (still do!! don't tell my husband).
4. I love to "Hoola-Hoop" (no jokes here about my body parts jiggling)

5. I love accessories. I own too many necklaces, watches, scarves, shoes, etc. I think I have "Fashion OCD" and I might need therapy for it. My mantra: "There is nothing like a fabulous accoutrement to cheer you up"!

6. I love the ocean - I want to live on the coast - I want a huge home, with floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the sea, with a butler and a maid, oh, and a chef, too....

7. I have my speech written for the Best Actress Award at the Academy Awards - I wrote it years ago and no one has come close - I certainly can't share it with you, because you never know....I may need it some day....I still have a few good years left.

Now I would like to acknowledge some of my inspirational sites that make my day - they are my daily "go to" blogs that make me smile each day, inspire me in different ways and share some wonderful ideas and stories. Some don't want awards, some might not want to share facts about themselves, but I feel that they are very STYLISH BLOGGERS and deserve a visit from you:
Room To Inspire
Sweet Nothings
Imparting Grace
Mountain Breaths
Forever Decorating
The Decorative Paintbrush
The Old Painted Cottage
Mabel's House
Kristen's Creations
Ladies, I hope you will pass on the award to your favorite stylish bloggers and brightem someone's day - and don't forget to visit Artie, too (Thanks, again!)!

More painted glassware...

I've been painting some more...and I felt that these pieces needed a little more:
GW had a 50%off sale on Saturday so I bought some candlesticks and adhered the painted pieces to them:

What a difference - and there are no two alike!
I have a few small apothecary jars to try next!
Quite a few of you have asked why I haven't set up an Etsy shop. Well, simply, I don't have time to learn how to do anything else on the computer! I actually have been selling my goods at a new gift shop in a bordering town. They don't have a website, but I will take photos soon!

My friends are back...a cool lamp...and a giveaway!

After many, many months of not being able to see my followers or stats, I am happy to say that they reappeared today!! I can see all your smiling faces again! I had no idea who many of you were, so welcome! I'll be over to visit soon.

UPDATE: You all disappeared again!! Anyone else having this problem?

Today, I am joining Met Monday with Between Naps on the Porch to share this very unique lamp I won from The Polished Pebble:
She made it from an old toaster and a colander:
I have it displayed in the corner of my kitchen with a few old family photos tucked into the toaster....and beside it is a creamer I bought at GW with an antique cocktail napkin tucked into the handle. This holds some old flatware that I am going to turn into garden markers:
These are photos of my mother, her siblings and my grandmother.
As you can see, the colander is the shade:
Pretty clever, huh? Go visit the Polished Pebble and let her know that you saw it here!
I bought a set of these napkins and a small matching tablecloth at an estate sale last summer. The stitching detail is amazing:

Time for Tea

It's a cold, snowy day here in NY. We have had well over 100" snow this season and I am ready for spring!

We don't see the sun very often in the winter and it is COLD!
When I first moved here in 1979, I described Syracuse as a GRAY CITY, with little sun.
And I imagine we will live here for about 5 more years or so.
So until we move somewhere warm and sunny, I will keep warm in the winter with a cup of tea,
and enjoying the beautiful snow scenes outside my window.

The Golden Globes and Painting....

This is what I did while watching the Golden Globes:
My husband is getting nervous and has made me promise not to paint any walls!
