I am joining the Do It Over Designers for a "Lighting Challenge", hosted by Ann @ The Apple Street Cottage
I gave this white lampshade an update with sample fabrics:
I chose 5 different fabrics (these were "samples" out of a fabric book), cut them to shape and used a glue gun to adhere each one:
I had some old trim which I used to cover the center seams:
I had some leftover fringe from another project which I glued on the top:
And I used a different fringe on the bottom of the shade:
It took little time, little imagination and was a great way to use up old scraps:
I put it on an old crystal lamp (that was my husband's grandmother's) in the guest room.
Hop around and see what the other designers recycled:
Very pretty, Patti! I have a few lamp shades I've been wanting to update this way. You've given me some great ideas. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLovely update Patti! I just spotted some fabric books on Marketplace and had no idea what to do with them - this is such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a beautiful job 'dressing up' this lampshade, Patti. I have a lampshade that needs this makeover and once we're settled, I will give this a try!
ReplyDeleteWow Patti! When I looked at your lampshade, I thought oh my goodness, how did she do all of this work, and then I read you glued it. I didn't know you could do this, that certainly opens up my world to so many ideas. I may not be able to recover a lampshade to save my life, but I can glue! Thank you for this inspiration, my wheels are a turning. Your lampshade looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo creative! You now have a one-of-a-kind custom creation! Looks perfect on that lamp.
ReplyDeleteHi Patti. I have two lampshades in my living room that I want to do something too. This is a great idea. Have a great weekend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteYour lampshade is gorgeous, Patti! I never would have thought that the different types of stunning fabric were glued on! You never cease to amaze me with your ideas!
ReplyDeletePatti, the lamp shade is lovely. A little creativity and scraps can change the look.
ReplyDeleteSuch a simple makeover but such dramatic results. Your choice of fabrics are perfect together and the end results are stunning.
