Fabric Twine Pillow - Do It Over Designers

Do you have leftover fabric scraps?

Don't throw them away, make fabric rope!

I am joining Ann for the Do It Over designers Blog Hop - make sure you visit the other talented bloggers at the end of this post!

Last month I posted how to make fabric "rope or twine"by following these directions.

I had some leftover rope and decided to make a pillow!

I cut a square of duck fabric and drew a heart shaped pattern on the front center:

I hand sewed the rope onto the fabric with white thread, following the pencil line.  The second row continued inside in the same manner, close to the outside rope:

It took a few hours to hand sew the rope onto the fabric, but the outcome was worth it!

When sewing a pillow, always leave the bottom center open for turning right side out.  Make sure all 4 corners are clipped to give you sharp corners:

It's ready to be stuffed with Polyfil and then stitched closed with an invisible hand stitch:

  2. Your pillow is absolutely charming, Patti! It reminds me of rug braiding - on a much smaller scale. I think my fabric scraps are calling my name!

  4. What a unique idea Patti! I say this every year, I need to learn to sew, and it always gets pushed to the back of my mind. I need new pillows, so maybe I need to get started on my sewing. I love the way you created the rope, that is such a good idea, and I know just the fabric I have here that I could try this with. You are so full of inspiration, have a wonderful weekend!

  8. That's such a lovely way to use scrap fabric twine. I made some a few years ago and made bracelets the used some of the left overs for gift wrap. I remember enjoying making the twine while watching tv! I have loads of fabric scraps and lots of tv shows on my list so I'll have to have a binge watch and see how much I can get made!
