As crafters, we rarely throw away scraps of anything! Here are a few ideas for using up scraps of ribbon or fabric:
What to do with ribbon scraps?
Make package tie-ons with a few pieces and a tag:
I found tags with "twistie ties", perfect for tieing the scraps together!

Do you have leftover pieces of fabric?
Make small gift bags, that can be reused by the recipient!

Scraps of fabric sewn into long tubes are perfect to make boho pins....
I inserted two 20 gauge wire pieces into each tube to make it easy to form the shape.
I added pin backs behind the scrolls:
These are also pins, or can be attached to cording for a necklace!

Another thing to do with leftover fabric is to tear it into strips and make "rope".
Follow these directions
Here's what I did with the fabric rope:
I cut out a circle and using Sculpting medium (or Mod Podge), I wrapped it around the plastic cup to greate a base to attach the rope:
Here is finished basket:

Do you have old jeans? Here's an easy craft idea:
Cute a strip off the waistband, longer than a slap bracelet.
Insert the bracelet and stitch each end closed:
I attached (hot glue) little flowers from a Hobby Lobby stem:
Ta-Da - who doesn't love a slap bracelet?
Hope you found a little inspiration!

ReplyDeleteYou sure are creative!!
ReplyDeleteThose are some good looking scraps, I usually tie a bunch together into a wad for my cats to play with. Cheaper than the overpriced commercial cat toys on the market.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas, Patti. I love the basket and the package tie-ons. It's time for me to get busy since I have SO many scraps!
