What is a Galette?
A Galette is a rustic dessert tart made with fruit and a pastry crust. Instead of being baked in a pie plate or tart pan, a galette has a free-form crust that’s folded up over the filling. The galette needs to cool a bit so the juices thicken, but it’s best either warm or room temperature.
They are very easy to make!
3 peaches, sliced thin
1/4 c sugar
1 T flour
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t vanilla
1 premade pie crust
1/2 T butter, cut into little chunks plus 1T melted
Toss the first 5 ingredients in a large storage bag to coat the peaches well.
Roll out premade pie crust on a parchment covered baking sheet and arrange the peaches in a circular motion around the pie crust working from the outside in, leaving a 1 1/2' -2" border of crust. Fold the edges up, pleating over the peaches. Dot with chunks of butter. Brush melted butter over the pie crust. Bake for 25 minutes at 425°. Let sit for 15 minutes to cool and let the juices thicken. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!
John could eat a piece of this every night!!
