Welcome to the Tales of the Traveling Tote #33

September to December
2022

Everson Museum, Syracuse, NY

Every time I attend an event at the Everson Museum in Syracuse, I am in awe of the staircase, behind me in the photo on the left. This event was in September and it was the fall preview of 4 new exhibits.

I.M.Pei, (1917-2019) Chinese-American architect was known for his creative use of modern architecture and open spaces.  The Everson Museum was his first museum commission and was completed in 1968.  The Museum was designed to be a grand sculptural object sitting in a plaza and the staircase is the most dramatic design inside the building.  During his six decades of architectural work, he designed some of the world's most recognized buildings such as the Louvre, Kennedy Museum, The Bank of China Tower and the East wing of the National Gallery.

The end of September brought me to Aurora, NY for this:

I can carry 6!

All nine of us had some type of tote, and here are a few of them:

Instagrammers with their assorted bags:

What a fabulous weekend!

In Central NY the fall means apple picking at Beak and Skiff:

It was a cool day, with lots of grey clouds so, I came prepared, but it never rained!

We have the best foliage in the northeast, so a trip to Vermont, Lake Champlain, Lake Placid and Saranac Lake is always exciting at this time of year.  I just LOVE a ferry ride!

This is the second year we have stayed at the Saranac Waterfront Inn and we ended up staying in the very same room as last year - what's the chance of that?

Have you ever seen Salmon swim upstream?  Me neither, but there were lots of fisherman catching them:

The MacKenzie-Childs Warehouse Sale was in November and it was fun running into friends, Dawn and Deb:

We drove to Ohio for Thanksgiving week. It was wonderful to be ALL together again!  The weather was nice, we visited to Columbus Zoo, had our first "smoked turkey", enjoyed watching the cousins play together, made "Harley Noodles", watched the Bills Game, Black Friday shopping and enjoyed every minute of family time!

The best part of this Traveling Tote series is the friends I have made, friends who all share a love of MacKenzie-Childs products.  Our group of ten is from NY, AL, OK, UT, CA, WV and TX and the connection each of us have made with our readers is amazing and rewarding!  Our Instagram group is growing and we post on the 15th of each month - all are invited to post a photo of themself with any M-C tote or bag and tag me @ppultorak and use the hashtag #talesofthetravelingtote.

I was honored to be invited to share a few of my "holiday picks" in the recent MacKenzie-Childs Christmas catalog.  I am lucky that I live within an hour from Aurora and get to visit the store often!

So that was my recap of the fall!  Life is GOOD!

  1. Wow Patti, you have enjoyed a wonderful autumn with family, friends and travel. You are so fortunate to live near Aura, probably a good thing I don't:) What fun to go to Aura and shop the craft festival, especially when you see a lot of friends there. The foliage is beautiful in the NE and it arrives during autumn. Our colors arrives mid November into the Christmas season so it makes sense to combine the holidays. Congratulations on being asked to share your holiday picks! Happy December.....

  4. I knew your travel recap would be big, as I've followed you on FB also. This is so great. I agree with you that some of the best fall color is in your area. Your photos were fabulous. The Everson Museum cantilevered staircase is a work of art! I didn't realize I.M. Pei also designed the Louvre and the other mentioned buildings. Very cool. And nothing beats family together. That time together was unbeatable. Cheers to another year almost closing, and the friendship we gals share with our totes. They're legends!

  5. Patti, you do all the fun autumn things, from apple picking to museum exhibits! I love maple syrup and all things maple flavored, so I would love to visit Vermont, especially in fall to see all the gorgeous leaves. And I really must make it to Aurora to meet you and Deb :D I'm determined to make it there in 2023. BTW when I saw your blurb in the MacKenzie-Childs Christmas catalog, I squealed out loud. I loved it! I hope you have the most blessed Advent and Christmas Season!

  6. Patti, hope all went well today. I had eye surgery on Tuesday morning, so my time for reading and typing has been limited.

  7. Patti, we are so fortunate to live and play in such a diverse and beautiful state and you take every opportunity to venture out. We're also very fortunate to be able to live near the finger lakes and Aurora, and attend the M-C events and share our finds!! I'm not kidding when I tell you that every time I go to a store, restaurant or pretty much anywhere in public, someone comments on my M-C wallet and bags. BTW, happy early birthday and Merry December!!

  8. Patti, your bag collection keeps growing! Wow so many pretty ones. My favorite photo is the one of all of you ladies at the Artisan get together. You have so much fun living so close to MC and meeting up with so many fun people. I agree with Debbie, you live in such a diverse state and I feel like I know so much more about New York and the East Coast from all of your blog posts. BTW, your smile just lights up all of the pictures. I love it.
