Charcuterie Ideas

Charcuterie
Charcuterie (shar-KOO-ta-REE) is a specific term with origins reaching as far back as 15th century France; literally translated, it means the products of a fancy pork butcher.
Modern charcuterie does often include pork, but the definition has widened to reflect a dish served throughout many cultures.

We used to call it a "cheese board" or an "appetizer tray" or a "grazing board".....now for some reason, we, in the US, have made the term Charcuterie as popular now as it once was in the 15th century!

We call it "afternoon snacks" or "snacky hour"!  Sometimes with a cocktail and other times with just ice water
You certainly don't need a recipe at all - just add whatever you have in your fridge and/or cupboard and arrange it on a board or a tray!
The problem with overdoing it, is waste.  After meat and cheeses have been sitting out for a while, you don't want to keep them as they are spoiling.  Fruit can get mushy and crackers dry out.
Covid has made us more aware of "hand/germ contamination" so skewers and individual servings are best for now!
For the two of us, these mini bread boards are perfect for a quick snack:
A few cubes of cheese, a few slices of summer sausage, crackers, nuts and a few candies!
And sometimes it is as simple as fruit and cheese!
I have made charcuterie cones, bags, jars, and skewers - How do you like to serve your snacks?
