The Power of Words....

I am a retired teacher with over 25 years of experience and while in the classroom I knew the power of my words and how they could affect a teenager's life, I understood how words had the ability to help, heal, hinder, harm, humiliate and humble. I could motivate and influence my students with my vocabulary as well as with my silence, expressions and/or encouragement.  My words helped to build positive relationships, drove positive behavior and impacted many, many lives over the years.

I could manifest change with my words!

I understood the power of words!

I started blogging over 10 years ago as a way to journal and share ideas.  I know I have influenced some with a few of my creative ideas, I have made incredible friendships, and I have been inspired by so many.

What I never gave much thought to was how my words on this blog or on Instagram would affect others as much as they do.

During the Pandemic I tried to stay positive, posting photos with inspiring quotes, sharing recipes and encouraging thoughts.  It was a challenging time to blog because I was housebound for so long.

I received lots of feedback, inspiration, messages and thanks from many followers and they were all appreciated, especially because as a blogger you don't always know whose lives you have touched.

My point is this:

I received a lovely note and gift from a woman who said I inspired her to
"spread some sunshine....and instead of buying, started gifting".

Out of the kindest of her heart, she sent me this lovely MacKenzie-Childs pitcher to use when my "wonderful hubby makes breakfast".

All bloggers appreciate comments on their posts, but to receive a gift and hand written note is an extraordinary and spectacular surprise!

Simply put, words hold an immense and tremendous power to manifest change, and hopefully for the best.  It can be contagious, can make you feel appreciated and can promote a bond of friendship.

So this past Saturday, when John made his "Saturday Breakfast", we enjoyed a pitcher of Mango  Mimosas!

Cheers to YOU!

Because of this sweet gift, I will also be "paying it forward" to someone who has inspired me!

Thanks to my dear friend and I hope our paths cross again soon!

  3. Oh, Patti, how fantastic! That's really a great gift for you & John. And your short, cheerful posts definitely did not go unnoticed. I found them very encouraging too. In fact, at least one of your recipes found its way into my rotation of COVID cooking. Thanks!

  6. Wow Patti!!!! Your “words” about how us teachers affect students lives just brought back a flood of memories...of my teaching yrs! So true. One yr I taught 144 students every day. Oooooo-weeee that was a long yr with some pretty bad and disrespectful children. So thought about leaving the teaching field that yr. but after I finished conducting the senior graduation activities, 2 of those seniors cane up to me and told me they would never be going to college if it wasn’t for my words, actions and love all yr long!!!! And one of these was one of the bad ones all yr . Oh that was all it took for me to go back yr after yr...knowing I might only touch one student a yr was enough. Enough to know I was “speaking” to the kids and they were listening!!!
Bask in your glorious words and your new friendship...for you touch SO many!!!❤️❤️

  8. Oh goodness Patti, that is SO sweet!! Yes, it is a mystery how much we can influence people, and like you, I try to keep it positive and helpful, sharing information and ideas that I hope will inspire others...I started blogging for selfish reasons, to push myself, and never dreamed I would benefit from so many new friendships and experiences. Your vignettes are always so pretty, and I especially love the oranges today. Your new pitcher is gorgeous and how lovely to have a breakfast with mimosas!

  9. What kindness! You and John will enjoy mimosas in that beautiful pitcher! I’m touched at the correspondence I receive from my readers without realizing how many are reading my blog. I’ve been corresponding with a woman that has a camp in the Adirondacks and is making my Charlotte Cake. So glad I can inspire others, and keep my blog tasty and positive.
