National Day of the Cowboy is observed annually on the fourth Saturday in July.

The era of the cowboy began after the Civil War in the heart of Texas. Cattle were herded long before this time, but in Texas, they grew wild and unchecked.

In honor of the "cowboy era", try this tasty recipe:

In my childhood I was a fan of Roy Rogers ,Hopalong Cassidy, and the Lone Ranger, but when Lonesome Dove came out Gus and Woodrow became my cowboy heros. I may need to make some cowboy cavair tomorrow.

This is an old favorite. I agree, Lucas McCain from Rifleman was great and of course clint Eastwood.

I love this stuff! I have the recipe somewhere but I will pin this one too. Clint Eastwood has to be my fav cowboy....
