A day in NYC...

Mom and I spent Wednesday in NYC - it was about 78' and a perfect day to roam a busy and hectic Manhattan!

After lunch, we stopped into Baccarat on Madison for a little champagne and shopping.  Champagne was served in lovely Baccarat stemware.  Mom bought this sweet little crystal butterfly:

A few things caught my eye....but our next stop was my favorite....

Not far, on 57th is MacKenzie Childs.  We stopped in to say hi to Justin, who I recently saw at the MC Barn Sale.

The store is decked out for fall and autumn decorations were lovely.  I walked out with a small bag of goodies!

A quick walk over to 5th brought us to Tiffany's...

...and a 40 block harrowing taxi ride got us safely barely to Union Square.  Sarah from Hyacinths for the Soul suggested we stop in at ABC, and across the street was Fishs Eddy. A walk through the Farmer's Market was also fun...lots of samples, wine tasting and liquer tasting!

A trip to NYC isn't complete without people watching in Herald Square and a peek in Macy's!  On this night, Tony Bennet and Lady Gaga pulled the switch to light up the Empire State Building in red, white and blue to honor Tony's 90th birthday!  As we left the city, the lit building could be seen for miles!

As I have said before, I would love a little studio apartment for a few months in this city.  As many times as I have gone, there is still so much more to  shop see!  Maybe some rich folks on the upper east side need a house sitter??

I would be perfect for the job - spread the word!!

You have the best adventures and know all the cool places to shop! I can tell by the twinkle in her eye that you got that skill from your mom!

  5. You are way ahead of me on posting photos. I need to get busy! I think McKenzie-Childs had changed their displays after I was there. Fall wasn't the focus. Did you see the fish table? I assume it was still there. Wanted to add some plates, but talked myself out of it. ;-)
You and your mom are adorable. I need to remember to go to the Baccarat store for champagne.
I wish we still had our apartment in NYC. You could visit often.

  6. Patti, You certainly covered a lot of territory in one day! I'm laughing at the taxi ride--I've had so many of those! Once my mom and her friend were actually screaming sitting next to me as we careened through the traffic, and then I couldn't get them back in another cab to go back uptown. I must get down to the city one of these days. Sounds like you had perfect weather too! Linda

  7. How fun to be able to get to NYC as you've done for a day of shopping! You're a lucky girl to be able to have your mom to share those fun times with (I especially miss the unfiltered conversations my mom would strike up in her senior years, lol. Are we to that point yet??) Let us know when you find that housesitting job - we'll all come and wreck the place for a fun time together. JK...the studio apt will be much better. ;)

  8. I want to go shopping with you! My kind of day, love the little butterfly your mom purchased. When I get my NYC apt you will be welcomed to stay over, no house sitting required……….
