I stopped at a garage sale today and spied these Dr Suess books ...This is how the conversation went down:
Me: What's the price of the Dr Suess books?
Nice garage sale lady: a quarter
Me: I'll take them, counting out three dollars for the 12 books.
Nice garage sale lady: No, just a quarter!
Me (in my Boston accent that comes back when I am excited): A quata for all 12?
Nice garage sale lady: Yup, just a quarter!
Me (doing the happy dance): Great, here's a quata. Thanks!!
These are for Carter, of course...books to read when he visits me in July!

without my hubby
Oh man oh man oh MAN!!! And they look like they're in mint condition!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should start going to some garage sales - - - - or maybe not.
But I WOULD love to hit on a bargain like that!
What a steal...all for a quata (you know I'm sitting here at the computer practicing saying "quata"). Carter is going to love having Grandma read all those books to him!
ReplyDeleteJane
That was a great deal and a funny story! My hubby and I went to Boston a few years ago...now keep in mind we live in Southeast TEXAS! So we have a little bit of a drawl, but we try to pronounce our words the way we see them written! lol We were at the rental car place and the lady asked us "wheh" we were stayin? So hubby said, "Medford" and she said "wheh?", "Medford" this went back and forth a couple of times and finally she said....." Oooooooh you mean Meffed!" I guess you had to be there but it was hilarious!!!!
ReplyDeletewell you can't beat that, now can you!! awesome. i thought your tribute to your SIL was funny, and your grandson is adorable!
ReplyDeletethanks so much for stopping by the cape on the corner, and for your comment on my thrift store finds...maybe i should play the lottery, lol! thanks!
