This is an area in my kitchen that I call the "bar". I keep the liquor in the lower cabinet and all my stemware and crystal above. Look at the placement of the telephone and electrical outlets:
Why do builders do things like this? If I designed this house, I would have put these two outlets closer to the left wood cupboard - and one above the other. They are unsightly!
I was not going to lose this battle! I found a canvas which had a lime green cupcake in the center and I covered the center portion with a wallpaper cutout. The canvas is stapled around a wooden frame, leaving enough depth to cover the telephone plug:
A quick solution to hide those ugly plugs!
Don't you think it looks better?

Sunday Link Party

That is a clever solution! I have a phone jack that is so high on my wall and then we need to plug the phone in as well. I don't think they were thinking!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Rachel
Good for you! Patti - 1, Plug - 0! =)
ReplyDeletexo, Jeanine
That is a perfect solution! It not only looks pretty but it serves a valuable purpose too. I'm stealing this idea.

I have had the same problem in my kitchen. i have put pictures over it to.. the cords drive me nuts. Just nuts i tell you... i would rather have them on the side of the bottom cover or in the wall below.. or inside the cupboard where there is a hole on top of the counter to hid the rest of the cord... i could go on... We could talk about the cable box and plug ins too...lol...
ReplyDeleteum my spelling corrected.. cupboard and hide. mishelle
ReplyDeleteA great idea!
ReplyDeleteSomehow Patti, I know you would not be undone girl! Clever idea! Love it. Be blessed. Cindy
ReplyDeleteHi Patti...very clever...we need more women builders who think of the obvious!!
ReplyDeleteNow that's the perfect solution!
ReplyDeleteI had the SAME problem! Great solution! My solution was to hang a small shelf right below the plug, then my phone can sit on the shelf and up off the counter.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! And why do they do that? It seems like it's just laziness or Men who never work in a kitchen.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Very clever solution! I've always wondered why builders do that, too. Love your jars with the bows tied on the lids!
ReplyDeleteI'm there with you Patti on the builders not thinking part. Why do they not put outlets where they can be more tucked away. When we built our house and I got to design the electrical, we put one on a side of a cabinet where towels would hide it. Patti, I'm holding out for when everything is cordlessss! I heard they are coming out with tvs with no cords. These things still have an unsightly box though.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the art hiding the outlets.
Like yourself, I hate plugs and cords, but love the gingham on the jars!
