I really enjoy a flavored or compound butter with rolls or breads and it is so easy to make:
What exactly is compound butter?
It is softened butter, whipped with various sweet or savory ingredients. While the concept is simple, the potential flavor combinations are endless. Pair scones, rolls, pancakes, waffles or cornbread with butters flavored with orange or lemon zest, maple syrup, honey or cinnamon. Pair meat, vegetables, fish and bread with butters mixed with herbs, spices, cheese or citrus zest. (The Pioneer Woman)
One stick of softened butter, a minced garlic clove, chives, parsley, paprika, flavored seasoning was used to make this butter.
I mixed it well and wrapped it in plastic wrap and shaped it in this mold:
I also spread some into candy molds for Easter (freezing it makes it easy to pop them out):
Try these combinations:
- Sun-dried Tomato Herbal Butter
- 1/2 stick butter, 1 clove garlic minced, 2 T sundried tomatoes, drained, minced.
Maple Bacon Butter- 1/2 stick butter at room, 2 t maple syrup, 1 slice of crispy cooked bacon, crumbled, 1 t bacon grease

I haven't made compound butter in a LONG time and I used to make it quite often. I think I need to make some. I like it with chives and sea salt, too. Thanks for the recipes and reminder of how good compound butter can be! xo Diana
