I recently attended a one hour seminar at Beaver Lake Nature Center where we learned how to make several recipes of festive herbal hors d'eouvres for the upcoming holidays.
Beaver Lake Nature Center is a 661-acre natural area located four miles west of Baldwinsville, New York. There are over 9 miles of hiking trails and a glacial lake. The Nature Center is an Onondaga County Parks facility and is meant to expose visitors to a variety of outdoor experiences.

During the class Rachel came around with the tasty samples while Carolyn gave us information about the history as well as culinary and medicinal uses of a variety of herbs. Below are the recipes and photos for the hors d'eouvres:
The roasted carrots were cleverly wrapped in crescent rolls and served with a ricotta dip. The aroma of the mulled cider filled the room with a scent of warmth and coziness!
The lemon cookies had a hint of rosemary and had a tangy, sweet and tart glaze:

The Nature Center is open year round and is part of the Onondaga County Park system. This is where I have made my kissing ball for the last 4 years.
They offer a variety of events on their website and it is located about 25 minutes west of Syracuse.
What a fun and informative event and I look forward to preparing a few of these recipes for the upcoming holiday season!
