Do you save calendars?
One of my favorite artists/authors is Susan Branch. She discovered her talent as an adult and shortly after moved to Martha's Vineyard where she wrote over 20 books and designed numerous calendars. She recently moved back to California where she spent her early years.

I have saved many of her calendars. I have used the larger ones for placemats....
This time I used the smaller calendar pages for this project:
Can you tell what I made ?
These are themed gift bags I designed by sewing two pages together with my sewing machine (a hot glue gun would also work):
Each page has a hole in the top, perfect for tieing a small bow.
This page was perfect to create a bag for hot cocoa packets:
Another page was perfect for a mini Easter Basket.....
....filled with Lindt Chocolates:
This was perfect for the coffee lover:
And finally, a bag filled with seasonings for the "cook":
NOW, on to the blog hop.....
Let's see what these creative bloggers are sharing with us:

ReplyDeleteOh Patti you should make these to sell. I love them all. The rabbit with the Lindt balls looks so yummy. Those are my favorite chocolates. These are super cute. Hugs. and Happy Weekend. Kris
ReplyDeleteThis is such a clever way to repurpose calendars Patti! I absolutely love that you sewed them instead of gluing – it really adds durability, especially for filling them with treats.
ReplyDeleteI love this Patti!! I've never thought about sewing calendar pages, but they really look so charming that way. I'm going to try it!

ReplyDeleteOh Patti, I love this idea! I keep my calendars too, and I always think I will use them, but have yet to do so. I have also wanted to learn how to sew, and I thinking this would be a good project for me to start with. I didn't want to waste fabric if I made a mistake, but I am thinking even I can handle a straight stitch, or at least I hope so! Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've not seen Susan Branch's art before but it's just gorgeous, I can see why you love it. Your little gift bags are lovely, those calendar are definitely too cute not to repurpose and the way you've themed the gifts to the pages is perfect.
ReplyDeleteClever use, Patti. I still have my SB calendars as well as my Mary Engelbreit ones. I need to pass them along to a crafter. I should take them to the Craft Reuse Center! I'm really trying to purge things this year. Needless to say, I have a lot of work to do!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are gorgeous. I can see why you saved them, you repurposed them into a bags worthy of a good price tag. Well done.

I remember Susan Branch, she puts out some great stuff. Too bad about the flap she's having with the IRS and Justice Department.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, her work is so pretty! First off, I have never thought of using calendars for placemats... genius! And those little gift bags are SO SWEET!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you love her style, it's adorable. It reminds me of the crafting magazine, Daphne's Diary, you might like that.
