Do It Over Designers - Hand Painted Glass

I love painting on glass and today I am sharing a few hand painted cheese domes with  Anne @ The Apple Street Cottage and the "Do It Over Designers".

I hope you'll visit their blogs to see their creative "do over" projects.  The list of participants are at the end of this post.

Read on to see how I transformed this cheese dome:

I use a 2 different types of paints:  Enamel paints and multi-surface paints.

Some times I use painter's tape, which I used  to create the black pattern on the left....

...and to create a straight edge above the stripes on this one:

These are not only good for cheese, but also for cookies or mini cupcakes!

I load the flat brush with pink, red and white paint to create the flowers with only a few strokes and to create the leaves I use a pointed-round brush, also loading it with a few shades of green paint:

A few stripes and gold dots finish off the detail before it is baked in the oven as directed on the paint tubes.

Another dome was painted similarly:

A perfect Valentine gift for a friend:

Here's a cute little candy jar that took less than 15 minutes to paint - a perfect little "happy gift", filled with candy,  for another friend:

Painting on glass is not only fun for me, but also relaxing.  If I make a mistake I just wipe or scrape it off the glass.  Once baked, it should be hand washed only.

HERE are some wine glasses I painted a few years ago.

I hope you will visit these talented bloggers to see their "Do it Overs"!!

  4. Oh good grief Patti, these are stunning! I love both the domes but the little jar really caught my eye as a great practice project. I follow the Folk Art people on Instagram and they have little videos of similar techniques but at the moment I'm just at the 'watch the videos' stage, you're inspiring me to have a go!

  8. I absolutely love your painting style on your gorgeous hand painted domes. I had plans to try my hand at glass painting for a Christmas project, but ran out of time. Maybe I'll have time for spring, but I'm sure they won't turn out as professional looking like yours!
