The Men Behind the Traveling Totes...

The Traveling Tote Ladies always post photos of ourselves with the Traveling Tote and I thought it would be fun to show the "men" behind the the totes!

My husband John retired from sales almost 9 years ago.  He enjoys all sports, bicycling and has recently enjoyed kayaking on a lake a few miles from our home.  He is a good sport about driving me out to MacKenzie-Childs and always enjoys the Farmhouse Tour.

We have met Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs numerous times and one time he told Richard that he often wondered if we were related because "his name" was on many items in our home!!! And then proceeded to tell Richard he was welcome at our house for Christmas Dinner!

He is always is always teasing me when I ask him to take a photo of me with my tote, but generally is a good sport!!

One of my favorite pics of him was taken in Skagway, Alaska with this statue of 2 frontiersmen:

My birthday was at the beginning of December and he pulled through, supporting my addiction...

...with the "now retired" wristlet:

He was also a big help delivering Christmas gifts this year...

New Years Day, as we were leaving for a party, I made him stop for another photo....obviously he is now getting annoyed with me....

....and when we arrived at the party, his friends told him they liked his "man purse".... I had a feeling that would be the last photo I got of him!!

BUT....

...I got one more chance when he carried my bag out to the car for my overnight getaway to my daughter's!!

Take a peek and meet a few of the "other men behind the totes":

Debbie with Miss Aurora @ Mountain Breaths
Jenna with Miss Coquille @ The Painted Apron

Rita with Miss Luna C Panoply

We are also excited to welcome Jenna to our group!!
Our next quarterly post will be March 1st

  1. Hi Patti,
The photos of your Man with the various totes are hilarious and wonderful...I do see the gradual decrease in his patience as your post goes along and you must just love him for going along with these crazy whims of ours!! I especially love the first one of him hiking along with the frontiersmen in Alaska. Your tote would be so handy hiking through the Alaskan wilderness and would hold everything you would need! I find I can just keep stuffing mine until I do need my hubby to carry it! And can you imagine if V and R actually showed up for your Christmas dinner?? They would be delighted with your table settings!
I'm looking forward to joining in with a post next time.

  2. Oh Patti, your photos of John are fabulous! I think we all experience the "just one more photo" look when we ask the fellows to make our photos, but such fun! What did we do before we had our heavy duty totes. Love your gift, the wristlet is adorable. Look forward to our party March 1. Tell your John I send greetings from AL.............

  3. Patti, John is the best sport! I think he deserves much more than kudos from all of us. '-)
His spirit of joining the traveling Totes is appreciated by me for certain! I photos are classic. I'm glad you received the wristlet. It is one of my favorite pieces and use it as a wallet all the time. Love the large bag. ;-)
Wow, can you imagine having dinner with V & R? What an interesting evening that would be!
I look forward to our March post.

  4. Bahahaha, I cracked up at that first photo - good one! This was a really fun post for me to read about all our guys. I like how John tried to make like you were related to the MacKenzies....didn't know where that one was going, lol. Imagine the hostess gift you might've received, had they come for dinner??!
Patty, I can see you & John have a great sense of humor, and must be great people to have as friends as a couple. I'm sure happy to call you friend with our little blogs and adventures - thank you!

  5. Glad John is a good sport and has a sense of humor to play along you. I remember you telling me that John invited Richard for Christmas! I can see why your favorite tote photo is the one of John hiking along with the frontiersmen in Alaska. A keeper for sure!

  6. I've enjoyed the story about the men behind the totes…they are all good sports. I smiled at how many times your husband has willingly posed especially in the first photo. I think John must be a lot of fun to live with. :)

  7. hi Patti! I apologize for my late comment, last week was kind of rough...My sister died the morning our tote posts published and as you can imagine, I was a bit of a mess. It was not unexpected as she had a terminal illness, but it hit me harder than I expected. Please forgive my tardiness...
Your husband is a grand sport, he looks great carrying your tote! Love the wristlet, smart guy :) How fun that you know Victoria and Richard McKenzie Childs, and funny funny what John told them! You definitely keep your tote busy, I will have trouble keeping up with you! Thanks for the warm welcome and I'm looking forward to the March fun-
