Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit

I was in Seattle last weekend and spent Sunday morning at the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit.

I first became familiar with Dale Chihuly's works of art from my mother, who worked at Rhode Island School of Design in the 1970's, when Chihuly was a teacher there.

Here are many photos - no description needed, just enjoy!

The Glass Forest:

Many pieces were inspired by textiles:

Sealife Room:

Mille Fiore:

Each piece is separate and installation takes hours!

The Gardens:
No description needed!

The Glass House:

No photo can do this artwork justice!!  This is a "must-see" if you visit Seattle!

  1. patti, I didn't know Chihuly taught at RISD! I recently saw some of his work in Washington DC and have become fascinated with it. I must go to this museum! Thanks for the tour! Linda

  2. The St. Louis Botanical Gardens have some of this glass art and it's stunning. Thanks for sharing and you are have to see it in real life.

  3. Patti - Isn't that the most fantastic place? Kind of a Disneyland for adults. I was just in awe of all of his work.

  4. Oh Patti! I have GOT to see that when we do a Pacific NW trip! Absolutely fantastic. And how fortunate your mother was to work at RISD when he was there! Thanks for all the photos - gorgeous!

  5. I have seen one of his exhibits and it is the most amazing thing of beauty. I don't know which I love more, the flowers, the ceilings, the things that look like they belong in the sea...what a master.

  6. Patti, It's so hard to believe that beautiful art is outside. I love that your mother taught you of Chihuly. I have never seen his work in person. Yet. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
