As you know, I hate gardening…but things are looking pretty colorful around here…at least for the time being!
The irises are in full bloom - obviously they require no care at all!
We'll see how long the pansies last...
This 3 tiered planter has recently been planted, so it has a few good weeks til it starts to look pathetic:
By the end of July the petunias will be sparse and leggy:
I have no idea what this is, but it might have a chance of survival:
You CAN'T kill mint, so this has a fighting chance:
The basil will most likely survive all summer, because I pick it constantly...
and the same goes for the parsley:
And this is a miracle - my poinsettias plant from Christmas is still red. In central NY this is rare!
I imagine if I took these very same photos in one month it would give you a good laugh!
I think your thumb has changed colors without you knowing about it! Everything looks GREAT! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up, Patti! I don't have a green thumb either. Thank god the hubby does!

I lose interest in my garden at the end of July. I only like it when it is fresh and pretty ;-) This made me chuckle. I am sitting here waiting for Joe to come home and examine a bug bite. I got my something in my garden, and it better not be a tick since I don't feel like going to urgent care tonight. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks glorious (including the Poinsettias)!!! I love the three tiered planter!
ReplyDeletePopping back in ;o) I am amazed that your poinsettia plant is still red here in Central NY. Your garden is looking great!
ReplyDeleteWell it looks like you have a green thumb to me my friend! BEAUTIFUL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI think you and I are in the same leaky boat sharing the same broken oar, Patti! I'm not much of a gardener, either. Everything I put in the ground or in a pot is definitely on the hit or miss list for survival!!! I just don't have the patience and dedication that is required for maintenance of all that stuff. Petunias at my house would be leggy, too, because I would not want to deadhead them.
ReplyDeleteI'm growing basil, parsley, tarragon, thyme and rosemary this year as well as spearmint. I'm also trying my hand at a habanero pepper plant. It has grown really tall already, and I have to figure out a way to properly stake it so it won't fall over once the peppers start growing big on it. At least it's survived the whole week I've had it! :-)
Good luck! We'll have to compare notes mid-summer! :-)
I did not know "you can't kill mint! You are cracking me up in this post. Looks like your flowers are doing well to me; at least you have some! We are working inside and have left the outside this year to caring for what is there and mowing the grass. I am itching to trim over grown bushes though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun arrangement! I love potted plant arrangements and flower boxes, if it doesnt work out you can just start again. Love that you've added herbs to the mix!
