This Was a First!

One of my good customers, Vicki from Kentucky, sent me this MacKenzie-Childs blue creamer and asked me to paint it in checks:

My first thought was "WHAT?", paint a real M-C to look like a real M-C?

I am always up for a challenge!

So, I disassembled it and primed the outside….

…and I pulled out my checked creamer for inspiration, and here they are:

Not too bad, huh?

I kept the inside in its original state, so she can use it as a vase for fresh flowers:

I have a few pieces of old yellow and blue enamelware - I just might do the same to my pieces!!

  1. Hi PATTI, I JUST JOINED YOUR BLOG, I AM IN AMAZEMENT AT WHAT YOU CAN DO ! I COLLECT MC AND HAVE BEEN FOR 20 YEARS. I ACTUALLY HAD A COUPLE OF COMMENTS AND A QUESTION~ FIRST, I SAW THE COURTLEY CHECK ( WHAT LOOKED TO BE WIRED RIBBON? I ACTUALLY WAS GOING TO BUY THE RIBBON FROM THE SITE BECAUSE EVERYTHING I HAVE SEEN, I CAN TELL ITS NIT THE REAL THING. SO I WONDERED IF YOURS WAS! I LOVE THE POST OF YOUR CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS. THEY TURNED OUT GREAT! I AM PRETTY GOOD ABOUT KNOWING IF ITS KNOCK OFF OR GENUINE. BUT, I HAVE TO SAY.... I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT YOU BOUGHT THEM FROM THE WEBSITE. I BOUGHT 8 STOCKINGS 3 YEARS AGO, AFTER CHRISTMAS AND I LOVE THEM !!! THEY ARE SOOO PRETTY! I BOUGHT 2 EXTRAS IN CASE SOMETHING EVER HAPPENED. THEY WERE ALL DIFFERENT IF NOT IN STYLE THEN IN THE SIZE WHICH ADDS SOME INTEREST TO THE MANTLE. OK.... HERE'S WHAT I WANTED TO ASK... IS THERE ANY TYPE OF PATTERN THAT YOU FOLLOW? OR IS IT BEST TO TAPE IT OFF OR USE A CHECK STENCIL? IF YOU CAN'T GIVE AWAY YOUR SECRETS THAT IS TOTALLY OK!!! I REALLY WANT TO DO SOME FURNITURE. I HAVE ALL THE KITCHEN WARE IN COURTLEY CHECK AND THE COOKWRE THAT I GOT FROM MY HUSBAND A FEW YEARS AGO.... ( WHICH I WILL SAY I COOK ALOT ... DINNER PARTIES ETC AND THE ENAMEL WARE LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED!! ILL JUST SAY THAT. BUT IT LOOKS GOOD ON MY STOVE. I HAVE THE SUNGLASSES ABD READERS AND THE GRILL AND TOTE BAGS ... BUT I WANT TO SEE IF I CAN DO A CHEST. SO I THOUGHT I WOULD ASK!!!
YOU ARE GREAT THOUGH AND I WANTED TO TELL YOU I ENJOYED LOOKING THROUGH YOUR BLOG. I THINK I AM GOING TO START THE OTHER CHECK SINCE WE'VE MOVED TO THE BEACH AND WITH THE BACK OF OUR HOME BEING THE AQUA WATERS OF THE GULF I THINK IT WILL FIT IN WELL!!
So, I REALLY JUST WANTED TO COMMENT ON YOUR WORK. I HAD A COUPLE OF OTHER QUESTIONS FOR YOU BUT CAN'T THINK OF THEM NOW! MY MIND WAS THINKING ABOUT HOW WELL YOUR ITEMS COME OUT!

    Thanks for the peek!!!
I WILL STOP BY TO SEE WHATS NEW!

    1. Hi…thanks for the compliments! I paint "freehand", no tape, no stencil - I just have a steady hand :-) The parchment checks would be perfect by the sea! The checked ribbon is wired - some of the ribbon is from their packaging and some I purchased on a roll. Thanks for visiting, come back again!

  3. You are amazing, Patti. This was a good idea because the CC really give it character. My silver and CC teapot is one of my favorite pieces mixed in with my other CC pieces. You are a treasure!
