A Quick Makeover with a Salt Bag

I bought a few footstools recently at the local auction.  I ripped off the old batting and fabric....

...and dry brushed some Valspar paint on it.  I love these little sample jars - 8 oz for $3!

I cut a new piece of batting a little larger than the top...

...and stapled on an old  salt bag:

To keep the "vintage look", I trimmed it with Crocheted lace that had a variety of buttons attached to it:

The trim was adhered with a glue gun!

A quick fix to an old footstool:

This didn't even take 1/2 hour to complete!

Now I have to makeover the other footstool!

  1. Cute makeover, Patti. I picked up an antique French foot stool at the City Wide Garage Sale this past weekend. It has a needlepoint top which I may or may not change. Love the salt bag for the fabric. Looks cute!

  3. Well, if that isn't the cutest thing. I have never seen lace with buttons attached like that. LOVE the fun finish it gave! xo Diana
