I am not a robot...

Just wondering....Has anyone noticed as of late that many more bloggers have turned on their word verification?

Does anyone know why? Are people leaving nasty comments? Do bloggers realize how annoying this is, and how time consuming it is (because I never seem to get it "right" the first time)? I notice that some bloggers have posted "I will not comment on blogs with active word verification". Do they know it is turned on? Have they tried to leave a comment on their own posts?

Just wondering...

  1. I hear you lady! I hate those things and I wonder if there really are nasty monsters running around blog land leaving ugly comments. I've never seen one but now I'm asking for it. I joined Debbiedoo's link party and started following her advice. I've had a blog for a long time but never really figured out the tricks. Anyway the first thing she said was turn it off. thats when I realized mine was on handslap. maybe thats the secret we just don't know what we are doing

  2. I don't know if there are more or not, but I do know that now that they have TWO words to match they are twice as annoying.

  3. I did a test comment on my blog a couple of weeks ago, Patti, wondering if it just started happening to everyone and you had to go in and shut it off. I never turned it on, so I was glad to see it didn't pop up on my test. I think if someone is saying they won't comment on blogs with word verification yet they have it, I'd leave them a comment telling them, "Hey, you know you have word verification?".

  5. I'm sorry for the inconvenience people, but I'm a blogger who's word verification is turned on. And even with it on, I'm still getting these nonsense comments left in my comments -- sometimes 2 or 3 comments from the same "person" at once. I can only imagine what I'd be getting if the word verification was turned off! I hope more bloggers will understand.

  6. Patti, I recently vented about this same thing on my blog. I took a stand and said that I will not leave a comment on a blog if they have word verification on. I still do leave a few when the post to so great, but like you I usually don't get it right the first time. I hate word verification. Please people, say no to word verification.

  7. Sister girl so glad you posted this! I find this very annoying. My thing is you can set it up to where you see the comment before allowing it to be posted so why do that instead of a word verification? Which to be totally honest, even with my glasses I have a hard time getting it right!!!! I can't stand it! And I think I may just have to repost this too~ Thanks
    Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  8. I have reset mine at least 4-6 times in the last two months, and it is resetting itself to yes on word verification. I will contact Blogger to see if there is a solution, but I have made the effort to turn it off.
