Girlfriends and a Wine Tasting Party

Establishing a solid circle of girlfriends can get us through all of the emotional turmoil that just comes from living very busy lives. Through thick and thin, skinny and fluffy, perfect children and not, deaths, marriages and divorces, the benefits of girlfriends strenghthens the joy in your heart. It is essential for happiness to make the effort to develop and maintain a group of girlfriends. You will find the effort worthy of your time as the added enjoyment to your life will multiply throughout the years.
Preparation for a wine tasting party:
Me: Hon, I’m having a wine tasting party for all my girlfriends on Friday night, so find a friend to go out and play with.
Hubby: Why can’t guys come?
Me: Because it’s just a time for the girls – to laugh, drink and have girl talk….
Hubby: Well that’s stupid.
Me: You are such a guy.
Hubby: Obviously, that’s why I am not invited.

So, to celebrate friendship, I had a Wine Tasting Party. Travelling Vineyards came into my home and we tasted 5 different wines:
I served a variety of cheeses, crackers, chocolates and breads.
And after the presentation we got into my stash of wines and continued to taste some more!

It was fun to mix old girlfriends with new girlfriends from work, the neighborhood and family.
Everyone mingled and had a great time!
And we even learned a little bit about wines, where they grow best and how to enjoy them more.
Some even caught a rerun of the Royal Wedding later that night!

The fun part for me was the preparation. I love to have "themed parties". I made name tags, so that each friend would know "who was who".
and I made party favor bags for each guest:
In the bags I had wine charms, cork pullers and coasters:
And the cheeses and dips were all labeled with tags attached to champagne and wine corks:
I served three different types of breads for dipping in Queso Dip and Cheese and Beer Dip:
The moral of this story is simply this: Girlfriends are necessary. Girlfriends are a must-have. Girlfriends are wise and dependable and fun. Girlfriends should always be remembered and never taken for granted. Girlfriends keep you sane and keep you grounded.

So, plan a "GIRL'S NIGHT OUT". No one can ever replace the healing abilities of a glass of wine with a girlfriend! Obviously, it's very good for our health!

Last week I was lucky enough to have an old friend come into town:
Rosemary - Girlfriends since 6th grade, 1964:
And in two weeks I will see another old friend when I go to Cape Cod.
Denise - Girlfriends since college, 1973:

So, let me toast to all of my girlfriends ~ we certainly know how to have fun, don't we?
