A Little More Doodling....

I want 12 of these, but they are $35.00 each:

Until I can afford (and justify) spending the money, I decided to buy 12 of these at Target for a total of only $3.75 at the after Christmas sale:

I began with one as a trial. I sprayed it glossy white:
And took my trusty paint pen to it:
I think it will serve its purpose:
so, 1 down and 11 more to go:
Should I keep going?

  10. Keep it up. If it's real tedious, do one a day - or even 1/2 a charger a day. You'll have your set of 12 before you know it. What a great look for so little money.

  15. Yes!!! You should definitely keep it going. I love to paint my own chargers, and your black and white ones are pure INSPIRATION to me.

Love the look, and I'm so glad that stuck it out to the end with the other posts on Tablescape Thursday because I would have missed this.

  16. Hi Patti!
Nice that you found my blog...I love the projects you've done. I just bought the exact same chargers at Walmart at %75 off...you have given me something to think about as the silver really isn't "me"!
    Have a great weekend

  18. Very nicely done! The MacKenzie-Childs platters have a very transparent yellow and a transparent watery blue that appear irregularly in the white squares on their Courtly Check chargers. You might want to try it, too. I hope that you'll apply a really good finish coat to your plates. I think that it will make them last a lot longer, and it will give them a nice sateen finish...it would even be really good looking if it yellowed a bit over time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful project. Cherry Kay

  19. I love that you live close to the M-C plant and can go watch them paint. Sounds like you should be one of their artists. Green....I guess that I just never noticed the green. We have a full-line MacKenzie-Childs store here. So many amazing designs...the Courtly Check is my favorite. I think that some of the other patterns are gorgeous but perhaps overwhelming for day to day living. I have a set of Pottery Barn white enamelware 10" plates that I use with the M-C chargers. I put the chargers on my Christmas and birthday wish lists from family for a number of years. I gradually was able to get them...filled in the rest when our store put them on sale twice a year. I'm excited to see some of your ideas for using the checks in tablescapes. They really are so much fun to use...I even use them at Christmas. Thanks for stopping by...I'm going to be watching for your project to be completed! You're amazing. Cherry Kay
