Hand Painted Checked Table

I bought this old table at the flea market for $6.00:
A little sanding, glue and a quick spray coat of Heirloom White really cleaned it up well:
I wanted a "Mackenzie-Childs type Courtly Check" on the top so I drew grid lines using a yardstick as a guide for width and length:
and began the tedious job of painting checks(I call this "doodling"):
And being a right-handed gal, I KNOW I should paint from left to right, but I got carried away and got a bit DIZZY and smudged:
And that is when this comes in handy:
Here is the finished table:

  9. I think both tables are just wonderful. I can't imagine painting all the little squares and you made them so straight!! Beautiful painting.

    I love this table!!! You definitely took it from boring to beautiful!! I've been catching up on your other posts too and I also love the flowers on the other little table. You are a very talented artist. The little stool looks lovely painted black and the trim was the perfect finishing touch!
