Lemon is my new favorite flavor....

We were expecting a 2 hr blast of snow today....

...and it never came....

...and the weathermen are now saying later tonight...

...so I decided to organize my closet...

...and then I needed a lemon tea and lemon cookie break...

...to sit and enjoy the greenery, before the snow flies!

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

Where did the weekend go?

I tried a new recipe from a fellow blogger...no need to share the recipe as the cake was just OK!

I bought a new spoon rest at Anthropologie:

I designed the menu for a local bar:

I caught up on some painting:

I tried to order this online - without success:

And I watched the Golden Globes!

MacKenzie-Childs Buttercup Pattern...

Years ago I began collecting the MacKenzie-Childs Buttercup Pattern:

The pattern was paired with the Bathing Hut pink stripes:

The kitchen in our prior home had some yellow and gold in it and I have always been drawn polka dots.

Apparently, as the story goes, Victoria first designed this pattern using her fingers to paint the dots!
One of the bedrooms in the Aurora farmhouse is painted in this pattern...

...and a butler's pantry door downstairs...

After the holidays I pull out my Buttercup pieces and store away my many of my checked pieces.

And was I ever excited this year when M-C brought back the pattern in their floor mats, however they changed the name of the pattern to "Posie Dot".

These pieces are just a cheery way to brighten up the kitchen during our gloomy NY winters!

There is nothing like yellow to brighten up a room!

Can you tell I am already anxious for spring?

What do you collect?

How to "check-up" a candle

Years ago I would paint checks on my candles....ughhh, the time it took!!

Now, most of my candles are battery operated, so I have covered them with wrapping paper that you can buy HERE.

I simply cut a strip and tape the paper at the seam.

It adds a little flair to a plain ol' white candle....

....and it can be simply changed for a holiday!

It's a great way to use up some scraps of wrapping paper or scrapbook paper!

What to do with all the "Christmas Photo Cards".....

It seems that everyone loves Shutterfly and making their own photo cards.  It is such a delight to get these through the mail and hang them on the refrigerator.
BUT - what can be done with them after the holidays?

Each year I gather them and punch holes in the corner of each card:

I choose one Christmas Card so that I can make a cover to date my photo cards:

I tie them together with a ribbon:

And I have a cute little booklet of photo cards from this year:

It's fun to look at year's past photo cards and see how the children have changed in one year!!

Quick Snowman Craft....

I don't know where the pre-season went ~ time certainly flies by quickly!

I had lots of ideas I wanted to share, but they will have to wait till next year, BUT this idea I have to share because it only takes a few minutes to make.  I saw this idea on Pinterest by My Spare Time and just had to make one!

I bought a $.69 frame at the thrift store, disassembled it and cleaned it:

I mod lodged a piece of burlap onto the glass:

I trimmed the burlap....

...and with a Sharpie, I drew the shape of the snowman onto the burlap....

...I used an old stiff paintbrush to paint the snowman.

I cut a strip of flannel and fringed the edges:

And tied it around the frame:

We have no snow this Christmas and we might be breaking temperature records, so this will represent our usual white Christmases :

Don't forget to leave a comment HERE for a chance to win the MacKenzie-Childs soap dish and soaps.  A winner will be picked on Dec 27th!

Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday filled with laughter, family, friends and good health!
