MacKenzie-Childs Farmhouse

One of the highlights of going to the MacKenzie-Childs store in Aurora, NY is touring the farmhouse. It was decorated in the last 10 years or so by Pleasant Rowland, prior owner of M-C (currently owned by Twin Lakes Capital) and was to be used as a guest house for executives visiting the plant.
The front of the farmhouse faces Cayuga Lake:
The living room has a lovely fireplace:
The dining room displays many of the dishes and a grand chandelier. It is so gorgeous during the Christmas Holidays!
The Breakfast Room is just a beautiful, the chandelier is a teapot and tea cups!:
All the new floral enamelware was on sale during the Barn Sale:
This is one of my favorite pieces in the courtly checks:
And I WANT this table (but I will have to paint it myself because it is too, too expensive):
The bedrooms are quite exquisite...can you see the roosters on top of the bedposts?
A quiet place to write :
And a sweet place to read (I want that lamp, too):
And this is the "piece de resistance", a WHOLE room painted in courtly checks:

And in the same room there are doors painted in a faux marble - can you guess what is behind this door?
This fabulous shower with stunning tiles:
"Fingers" dipped in yellow paint were used to paint this room - this pattern is now retired:
And they didn't leave out the balusters:
Another room overlooks the lake and is used as an office:
Doesn't it make you want to visit? A while back I showed a photo of the pink kitchen. Stop by tomorrow to see a few great chandeliers displayed in the M-C store

For all of you MacKenzie-Childs lovers:

I am joining Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays @ Coastal Charm to share some inspiration today.

I went to the MacKenzie-Childs barn sale this past weekend. This festive event takes place once a year and people save their money in hopes that their favorite items will be on sale in the barn and in the tents.
The grounds are spectacular. This duck pond is in between the shop and the barn:
The shop is exquisite - but, we'll tour the shop on another post.
Outside is a display of their new outdoor plastic wicker-like furniture...it cost a gazillion dollars!
And the courtyard has cute tables with courtly checked umbrellas (one often finds the bored "husbands" sitting out here)
They have even painted the sawhorse blockades in courtly checks:
The gardens are simply lovely and gives the patient people in line something to admire:
And who wouldn't want a grill painted in the courtly checks (and displayed with flowers, rather than charcoal!). There were only a few left:
I wanted a tuffet....but much too expensive:
But I am thinking about using this one as inspiration:
Stay tuned for photos from the farmhouse as well as photos from Victoria and Richard's Home Again Store (they also held a sale the same day at their B&B down the road, where they lived when they started the business in the 90's).

The Story of My Life...

I hate to have anything hanging around without a purpose!
Remember last week this:
Turned into this:
So that left me with this:
I found some little tumble tiles that I rubbed with pastel chalks and stamped with black Stazon ink:
I adhered them to heavy cardstock:
and framed them:
Now what do I do with the leftover tiles? Now I have 2 things hanging around without a purpose:

Dining Room Table

I was "eyeing" this table at the Salvation Army thrift store for over a week and finally bought it - for only $10.00!
The legs are gorgeous (Duncan Phyfe style)
The top was a mess:I was happy to see that it was of good quality - Thomasville!I primed it:

I gave the table a few coats of spray paint (you might remember that I am not too fond of Heirloom white, but it is growing on me!):
Hobby Lobby sells this large wall stencil:
I sponged the diamonds and I wasn't too crazy about this idea:

So I painted it again:
And I spray painted the diamonds this time:
And then I glazed it (thanks to Crowned Casa for the glazing guidance!)
I imagine I only have $50.00 in the whole project!
I am sharing this project with:

Books on a Candlestick...

I am always rearranging things in my home...I call it "puttering" around. As I was walking in circles with these books, I remembered years ago seeing books displayed on a candlestick:
The Poe books were my father's and they are dated 1902. I have the whole set scattered around. The top book is Wuthering Heights, one of my favorite books movies.
The books are gathered together with a curtain tie back from MacKenzie-Childs:

Coming soon...

I'm thrilled to be able to do a review for CSN Stores! CSN Stores has over 200 different online retail stores to choose from and over one million items, including beautiful dining room tables, children's furniture, and cookware! They offer competitive pricing that you can't find on other retail online stores. Their vision is to be a household brand name and they are currently one of the top 3 online U.S. retailers of home and office goods!

A few of my of my favorite aspects of their website are the competetive pricing and the variety of items you can find on these sites: AllCoffeeTables.com, Cookware.com, AdirondackFurnitureDirect.com, AccentFurnitureDirect.com, Strollers.com, and CSNLighting.com.

CSN supports their community, and just this month they brought in over 590 pounds of food in a company wide food drive. They have also participated in other events such as Light The Night Walk, JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, and the March of Dimes March for Babies.

I am hoping to review this Rachael Ray baking dish from CSN Stores ...SO, stay tuned!
