The Golden Days of Fall…Traveling Tote #4

The Traveling Tote #4

Welcome to
"The Golden Days of Fall"

(my front door wreath)

Around the corner is the Pumpkin Patch.  We have been going there yearly for over 35 years!

They have the best selection of fresh pumpkins and over the years have added a corn maze, hayrides, and lots of fun for the local children.

My tote carried my hand painted pumpkin...

…for a few photo shoots!

--------

A few weeks ago I took Miss Kenzie back to the "motherland": the Mackenzie-Childs store in Aurora!
I wish I could fit this farmhouse inside my tote and bring it home with me!

It was a gloomy day, but it's always fun to treat myself with a few special gifts from the store ...

...and to tour the farmhouse...

-------

Every fall we take a trip to the local wineries in the Finger Lakes region in NY.

We traveled around all of Seneca Lake...

...visiting 8 wineries and one cidery...

...we even "tailgated" with snacks and wine"!

-----

Another favorite place we visit each fall is Beak 'n Skiff Apple Orchards

It was just voted the best Apple Orchard in the US !

It was quite exciting to be recognized by a reader of my blog while in the Orchard - She came running up to me asking "Is this the Traveling Tote?"  It was fun to see you Sherri!!

Six of us went apple picking, tasted beer, hard ciders, gin, vodka and bloody mary mixers!

And we also had lunch: Chicken salad with apples and celery - YUM!

The Empires were delicious and I came home and made a yummy apple sauce!

The third weekend in Oct we drove 7.5 hours to Ohio to see Carter!  The rainbow in the morning promised us a safe trip!  We went to his Karate ceremony, out to dinner, shopping, to the pumpkin patch, played games and even went to a winery!  It was a quick, fun-packed visit!

Throughout the fall I have been going to the Farmer's Market for fresh veggies and spices.  I made some delicious tomato sauce, canning some, freezing some and eating some!

There is nothing like fresh arrabbiata sauce:

  1. Patti, love your watercolored leading photos! So fun that one of your readers recognized not only you but your mission, hahaha! And that chicken salad has my mouth watering - yum! Fun to see all your travels, thanks for taking us along.

  3. Patti, How exciting that one of your readers recognized you and Miss Kenzie!!! You have been so busy this fall. I must get to Aurora someday. I've been to the flagship NYC store many times, but I must go to where it all began. I haven't been to the finger lakes since I was a little girl so of course there weren't any stops at the wineries, but I see that I must put them on my list for future trips. I'm not sure I could handle all those tastings in one day, though! :) And now the tote is on sale! What a great deal for her. I hope some more friends join us for future traveling tales. Looking forward to hearing your next adventures soon! Linda

  4. Patti, you and MIss Kenzie are becoming world famous. The paparazzi is going to be following you! ;-)
Miss Merri Mac and I are envious of the Aurora trips as well as all your fun trips to the great places in upstate NY. You two certainly keep on the move.
Love the watercolor images. I need to remember to use that app again. Can't wait to see what you two have planned for Adventure #5. I know it will be filled with fun times and exciting places. I wouldn't be surprised if you two don't slip into the city again for a little Christmas shopping.

  9. There is always something to do in the Finger Lakes, and Miss Aurora hasn't been there with me yet. I spent a lot of time in the Finger Lakes and also at Madame Jumel's in Saratoga, but haven't been in a few years. Better change that! Your painted pumpkins are fabulous. I'm loving fall (and pumpkins) this year, and my mom's pumpkins have made it very special. Debbie
