September 2024
The Tales of the Traveling Tote is a series of adventures that share where our Mackenzie Childs tote bags have taken us. Four times a year a group of bloggers each write a connected post about the places we have been.

Here's what Miss Kenzie and I have been up to the last 3 months:
It was a summer filled with family, friends and fun:
I have been working a few special events for MacKenzie-Childs and enjoyed working in the Aurora store during the in store Barn Sale. If you have never been to Aurora, NY, add it to your Bucket List - you wont be disappointed!
My totes and bags have enjoyed their adventures this summer. We live about 1/2 hour from Lake Ontario and this "ocean girl" can get a quick fix here! I truly miss the ocean, the smell, the waves and there are days that the Lake can resemble it, and this day was one of those days:
There is nothing like being on a rooftop lounge on a summer day, especially overlooking the Oswego River:
We spent a week in Ohio: some mother/daughter time, happy hours, card games, soccer games and playing with food:
On the way home from Ohio we crossed the border, over the Rainbow Bridge, into Niagara, Canada:
We spent the night in Canada and enjoyed dinner and the casino, pictured below. I love the feel of Canadian money, especially when I win!!
Every night, at 10:00 there are fireworks over the Falls, so we walked down STEEP Murray Street again to see the nightly lights and the full moon!
The walk down the steep hill, again, to the Falls early the next morning, after breakfast, was quiet and peaceful as most of the tourists were still in bed!
One of our favorite stops for an afternoon cocktail and snack is Queen Victoria Place, overlooking the Falls:
Dinner up in the Skylon, with a revolving dining room, is another favorite place of ours. The view is amazing and the elevator ride up is exhilarating!
+++++++++++
Many Saturday mornings were spent at the Farmer's Market - lots of flowers, baked goods, fruits and veggies
The New York State Fair is always a reminder that the summer is coming to a close. This year I was on the hunt for Peachey's Donuts - if you can imagine eating a sugary cloud - they are by far the best I have ever had!!
Again, this year, we saw the Herman's Hermits concert AND, you can't leave the fair without having a wine slushy!
And that is my summer wrap up!
As always, we offer a MacKenzie-Childs giveaway and this time Jenna is hosting, so leave a comment on her blog for a chance to win this To Go Tote:

We'll be back on Dec 1st:
I love our summers, and the State Fair is a nice way to celebrate. I'll look for Peachey's Donuts next year, and I'll let my niece know since I think she is going today. We eat, smell, and drink our way around the fair, and it's always fun to attend a concert. I'd like to spend more time near Lake Ontario, and especially to see the Northern Lights that people are reporting. Niagara Falls is a favorite of ours too. I enjoyed your summer wrap up!
ReplyDeleteYou really travel well, Patti. I love seeing all the places you go, and how you make the most of wherever you are. Lucky girl to be a part of the M-C special events. The family time has to be rewarding, and I cannot believe how those boys have grown, and Carter is a young man now! The Niagara Falls are, to me, just outstanding, both sides (but I favor the Canadian side if I had to choose). My brother raved about seeing Herman's Hermits this year, and I told him about you seeing them last year. That outdoor venue looked like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it's been 10 years of traveling totes?! Happy September!
Wow! It looks like you've had a great, adventurous, fun summer.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the fun places you've been during the summer and all the beautiful faces of your family and friends. You are definitely a girl on the go! I love the pics too of the "Falls," where we visited once but during the day. I would love to be there and see the lights at nighttime. I think it would be a lot of fun to work with MC and I would love to come to Aurora some day! Happy September Patti.........
ReplyDeleteFull summer! It's fun to see all the happy times you are sharing with your family. Those boys are growing fast! I love seeing all the beautiful places you and the totes have ventured. You have been busy. Happy September!
ReplyDeleteYou have had a wonderful and busy summer Patti! I'm so glad you had a lot of family time, and your trip to Niagara Falls had to be amazing! The photos at night are gorgeous! I bet working with MC in Aurora was super fun, it's so nice that you live so close. Happy September!
ReplyDeleteJenna from the Painted Apron
Your state fair is much better than ours....we don't have the wine slushies! I love seeing your photos of the MacKenzie-Childs farm and Niagra Falls. You have had a busy summer! I hope to visit Aurora again one day. Happy fall!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun summer Patti. How special to work the MKC Events. The fair looks like fun. The food is the best part, since I don’t partake the rides. Peachy donuts sounds delightful. I hope one of these days, I can visit Aurora and the incredible Mackenzie Childs farm. Niagara Falls must be amazing, I have never been. Thanks for taking us along. Happy Labor Day weekend.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your adventures! I have had a few this year--Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, Oregon Coast, and Long Beach, Washington! All photos are on my blog! I want someday to see Niagara Falls!! Looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful summer. Time with family is always the best of times. Happy Labor Day. Hugs. Kris (junkchiccottage)
ReplyDeleteOMG Herman's Hermits! Their first album was my first album purchase ever. So groovy... You are at the top of my Flashback Coolometer.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful. I'd love to see Niagara Falls from both sides one day.
That plate of food wasn't for just one person, was it?
You had quite the busy summer with family and friends and with you and your hubby enjoying Niagara Falls! I was at the Canadian side of Niagara Falls in the early 1970’s. I’d love to go back. Happy September to you, Patti!
ReplyDeleteI hope I’m not too late for the giveaway! Our summer was very busy, too! It makes my day reading all your blogs! We went on a river cruise started in Prague and ended in Amsterdam! I lost my bag in California so I really need a new one! Happy September!
