The inspiration for this pillow came from the Mackenzie-Childs website:
Their pillow had too much pink, so I decided to make my own.
($325 here at MacKenzie-Childs)
Of course the cost to make mine was minimal compared to theirs!
I made a pillow out of leftover buffalo checked fabric. I made the flap out of striped fabric, simply by sewing two triangles together.
I stitched a cording trim on the two sides....
...and got into my stash of trims....
...and decided on animal print:
I hand stitched the triangle to the top of the pillow...
...and made a flower out of organza fabric (how to here) and trimmed it with MacKenzie-Childs ribbon:
This pillow took little time and cost about $15 to make...
Compared to $325!
And mine coordinates so well with this pillow HERE!
While I had the sewing machine out I also decided to make new valances for two windows....
Now I am off to sew a few more things...it's amazing how a little bit of fabric can make a nice change.
...and the snow still continues in central NY!!

ReplyDeleteCute pillow. I have made many of these envelope pillows and your space looks great. Wouldn't it be fun to actually visit each others homes? I can dream can't I?
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the pillow! I'm impressed at all you do. I was at a wonderful fabric and trim shop yesterday and thought about how much you would love being in that shop. The fabrics and trim you selected are perfect!
