Many years ago, in my International Foods class, I had a student who would not "eat food out of anyone else's hands". She would always participate in the cooking and demo sessions, but would never taste the food. She had never eaten in a restaurant, the school cafeteria, nor at a friends house. We spent a lot of time in class on health, safety and cleanliness, but she was not going to change. Culturally, this was her belief and we all accepted it.
During the pandemic, I thought a lot about her! As many of us were reconsidering our daily habits I found that some of mine changed. We wore masks, some wore gloves, hand sanitizer was always close by and we washed our hands more than ever!
I served finger foods in individual cups, plates, boards etc., so that guests were not bothered by other's hands touching all the food.
This is something that I have stuck with. So recently when a friend stopped by, I grabbed 2 of my MacKenzie Childs tiles:
Now, when I bought a few tiles, I had a plan - that went askew, so this was a fun way to use 2 of them:
I made them ahead to time so all I had to do was "pour the wine"!
A little afternoon pick-me-up!
Are you still finding that some of the habits you formed during the pandemic are staying with you?
Such a cute idea for presentation! Love this!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I probably should continue more of the level of safety I used during the pandemic, but I'm lazy. I do tend to still get a pump of hand sanitizer when I return to my car so I guess that's something. I love the idea with the tiles.
ReplyDeleteSuper idea!!!
