This month's theme for 10 on the 10th is Patriotism.
This is where we spend under $10 related to the theme. This is also a blog hop so I hope you will visit the bloggers at the bottom of this post!
Flag Day and 4th of July are approaching, so I have created the cutest little place card holders for a patriotic table setting while meeting the challenge of spending well under $10!
I purchased a package of 5 mini plastic hats from the Dollar Tree ($1):
I cut scraps of white paper....
...and star paper ($.29):
and taped them together using a rolling tape dispenser:
This created the place card:
I gently made a 3/4" slit on the top of each hat....
....and the corner of the place card was tucked into the slit"
I wrote the names in calligraphy:
A perfect touch for a patriotic table setting!
The total cost of each place card was about $.25!

Here are a few ideas from the past that are also inexpensive to create for the holidays:
Vanilla Vodka Cherry Bombs for under $10
Make some seasoned butter for under $10
I hope you found a little inspiration here for our upcoming patriotic holidays!
Hop over to see what clever ideas my friends have:
Allyson - Southern Sunflowers
Ann - The Apple Street Cottage
Barb - French Ethereal
Cindy - Cloches & Lavender
Corine - Junk To Gems
Tammy - Patina & Paint
Terrie - Decorating & More With Tip
Very clever, Patti, and I'll bet your grandchildren will end up wearing their hats all day!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute!! I seen them in the dollar store and knew they could be used as a cute idea and you proved me right. Now I am hoping mine still has some left! Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletePatti I love this idea. So cute! Our Dollar Tree is awful. I always see such cute things posted from there and we never have it. However, I'm going to see if I can find those sweet little hats. Love all of the other ideas you shared too. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable these are. I have some of those hats and never though about doing this with them. You gave me some inspiration Patti, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThese are the cutest. Our Dollar Tree and Dollar stores are horrible.
ReplyDeleteThe kids are going to love these!
Adorable and totally doable!!! I love all the crafts you create, Patti! I remember the sparkler bouquet you made (and showed above) last year and all the other ideas you showed were super fun, too. No wonder you were a consumer science teacher!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sweet place cards! I'll have to make some to go with my table's placemats, ;)
Hugs,
Barb
Patti, after I commented, I realized that I will be sharing the whole table in a post probably next week. If you are okay with it, I'll share one of your photos (since I'll see if I can create your placecards/hat) and of course I always credit! :) I'm really excited about this since for once I had time and energy to create something fun for our home.
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law and sister-in-law arrive next Monday and it'd be fun to make lunch for them and have the table all set for the 4th.
Let me know if you are okay with this, will you? Thank you!
Hugs,
Barb :)
Of course! They are so easy to make!
DeleteYour patriotic place cards are so unique! I would have never thought about turning those hats into card holders ~ great idea. They look perfect in your table setting.
