Do it Over Designers - Upcycled Vase

Summer is upon us and flowers will be blooming soon.  Here's an easy way to "doll up" a simple clear vase:

I bought a small clear vase at the local thrift shop for $.99:

I pulled out my clay stash and silicone mold and made a bunch of little clay flowers.

As soon as they were pressed into the mold, they were removed and set out to dry (you can also bake them according to the instructions on the package)

I let them air dry for a few days and they were still a little pliable, which helped to shape them on the curved areas of the vase.

I spray painted the outside of my vase white:

I pressed them onto the vase, playing around with placement....

...and then hot glued each flower into place:

A quick and easy project!

An idea might be to surprise a friend with a little bouquet of fresh flowers!

  4. Your vase turned out great Patti, and so thrifty too. Vases are one thing that are so easy to find at thrift stores and I think most of them are still affordable too. I enjoy working with clay and molds, you never know what you can dream up.
