Tales of the Traveling Tote #19

The Tales of the Traveling Tote #19

The Tales of the Traveling Tote is a series of adventures that share where our Mackenzie Childs tote bags have taken us.  Four times a year a group of bloggers each write a connected post about the places we have been. We have built incredible friendships through our blogs and we hope you enjoy our tales as much as we do!

During the last three months I anxiously awaited spring - the older I get the less I enjoy the snow and cold.  Here is a recap of my Spring Tales with my Traveling Tote:

March

Our family celebrates PIRISH (Polish/Irish), a holiday created by our children and their cousins.  We made the trek from NY to Ohio the week before St Patty's day, to celebrate this year!

Soon after we attended the Maple Fest and took a hayride into the woods to see how the trees are tapped for sap to make maple syrup:

I lucked out at del Lago Casino, in the Finger Lakes region, and made my final purchase at the Savor by Mackenzie-Childs store.   I was sad to see it close!  BUT, the beautiful bathrooms will stay!!

I met a few Facebook friends for lunch in Syracuse and
this is proof positive that MacKenzie-Childs creates friendships:

April

My daughter lives quite close to Lake Ontario and we spent a few days "playing" together:

Then I was off to Cayuga Lake....

...To stay at Wallcourt Hall and attend the yearly MacKenzie-Childs Warehouse Sale...

...and to fill my TOTE with M-C treasures as I met up with old friends and made some new friends!
At the sale I was recognized by a few of my blog and FB "followers" and was called "Pandora" by a few of them!

Easter was quiet this year with only 5 of us - I pulled out a lot of my M-C ceramics to brighten up the dinner table:

May

This was a busy month.  It started with a few days of work in Albany...and I finally found Saratoga Lake.  I have been working there for a few days a month, during the nice weather, for a few years and have only toured the town, the winery and the Springs.  I finally ventured out to find the Saratoga Race Track and Lake this time:

We spent 4 days in Ohio...I enjoyed seeing my daughter's new home and spend time with my grandsons, great niece and great nephew:

...and then I had a getaway to Boston and the Cape for my niece's bridal shower and a quick visit to see my BFF.

I love stopping in my hometown of Avon, MA to drive through my favorite park, DW Field Park, which was up at the top of the street where I once lived:

One of the few waterfalls in the park - - - as teens it was always a challenge to walk across this and hope we didn't slip and fall:

Back in the "old days" we could swim in one of the ponds, and we had many walks, picnics and bike rides.  We climbed the Tower, found golf balls on the golf course and sold them back to the golfers, and at night went "parking" with our boyfriends.  My brother caught his first fish in the park, my high school class ring is at the bottom of Waldo Pond and feeding the ducks and swans is still enjoyed by so many families!

A trip over the Cape Cod Canal took us to...

...
... Falmouth Beach, with Martha's Vineyard in the distance:

...it was a windy day, with lots of waves and shells washing up on the shore:

I am now looking forward to the warm weather and lots of summer activities!!

  1. You are always on the go somewhere Patti! I love that you went to Ohio to celebrate Pirish, that is such a cute tradition! How long does is take to get to your daughter's house? I count my blessings everyday that my daughter lives 15 minutes from me. I know the sale was a definite highlight of your spring and I think it's hysterical people called you Pandora! I loved seeing the places you hung out as a teenager and hearing your memories...As for cold yukky weather you sure made the most of it! Thanks for always making our adventures so much fun ❤️ Jenna

  2. Patti, upper NY may have long, cold winters, but you don't let that stop you from having a grand time. You have been busy! I love seeing how your family enjoys celebrating together, and your Easter table was so pretty and inviting. I love a table set with Taylor ceramics. They are pretty anytime, but absolutely perfect for spring! I think you and Miss Kenzie get around. I envy your beach trips, but all the water views make my heart sing. What beautiful photos! I know you and MIss Kenzie will have many fun times together this summer.

  3. I agree Patti, I have less tolerance for the cold. Can’t wait for the rain to stop and the sunshine to come out. You have been to so many fun places. So fun to come along with your loved ones. I just love the picture of you at Savor in the mirror with all of you MC Goods! What a fun time at the sale Pandora - and to be recognized by so many. Such beautiful shots of you and your TRaveling Totes in so many different states! You had a great spring.

  5. Hey Pandora, so many fun places you and miss Kenzie have visited. The cold winter did not slow you down. What a lovely way to celebrate with your family. Everyone has smiling faces. You are so fortunate to live near the MKC warehouse and barn sale. Love the Taylor dishes. I will just admire your pretty collections. The mirror shot is. Lovely. You look fabulous. Enjoy the weekend.

  6. Oh what a fun idea your family had making a tradition and celebrating "Pirish" together. The Maple Fest with the hay ride into the woods sounds like such fun. I would love to see how the trees are tapped for the sap, not to mention bringing home some of that amazing syrup. Oh how I wish I could go with you to the big sale. How fun to see familiar MC friends and pick out some special pieces to bring home. I love how you set a table for Easter using such pretty pieces of MC. Glad you have been able to spend time with all your family so I know you've traveled a lot of miles. I love the lake pics with your tote, perfect scenery. Wishing you happy weekend adventures Patti.......

  9. Oh my gosh, I love that you have become a celebrity! Our mighty leader, you have been really busy the last few months. I feel slightly like a slug by comparison. Although I know there is quite a bit of congestion on the East Coast, I love that you can get to so many wonderful spots fairly easily. Imagine, four days with your grands, your niece and nephew, followed by a bridal shower on the Cape. I loved tagging along to see a few of your childhood haunts. You're an on the go lady, and when I grow up, I want to be like you. Thanks for sharing your journeys with us. CherryKay

  10. I love seeing your adorable family...Patti, you have the cutest family! Your travels are always so much fun to read about. I hate I missed the Warehouse Sale, darnit! I loved seeing the garden near your home where you grew up. I would've loved living in a neighborhood like that! I know you had fun living there as a child. The Pirish celebration photos make me smile. How adorable and fun!
